Any thoughts on the Springfield area? Will be there and am having trouble getting a read on it. Timing seems too early rn but still in the slight risk. Going from near 90 to 35 is going to be interesting. Will have to switch from AC to heat at my Airbnb. Gotta love March.

MKE hoisted a watch for SE Wisconsin. I thought they’d wait it out a bit longer but due to the potential for heavy impacts it’s understandable. The MKE area will probably vary pretty widely county by county. I do not envy the forecasters on this one. Going to be an interesting few days here in Kenosha trying to figure this one out.

Sounds like you did ok brother. We all know what to do during a tornado when we’re sitting on the couch in clear weather. And it’s easy to judge when we are safely watching videos away from the danger. When it actually happens IRL it’s so much different and I know from experience. I also regret some of my decisions when I was in one. I hope you’re all safe man glad you’re ok. Take a breather, and I’m being serious here, play some Tetris (an actual proven way to help with trauma right after experiencing it). You’re not dumb. When shtf our brains go to mush. You did what you could under stress and pressure and it sounds like you’re all ok that’s what matters. You did good man. I’m sorry you experienced this though.

Pretty cool. Sorry you no longer hold the record (I know this one isn’t confirmed yet), but let’s hope this one doesn’t get beat. Good grief I can’t imagine the noise and damage 6in hail would do. Feel bad for any people or animals that had to endure that.

Once again SE WI actually cashing in. Moving here has been a blessing. Nothing major but not anything to scoff at either. Don’t mind my fallen over bird feeder and flag pole with no flag lol

It’s not just your memory. Last winter ORD saw 11.9 in for the entire 2024-2025 winter season which was a record low. Last winter was brutal. I got lucky up here in SE WI but it was extremely localized, as in basically Racine and Kenosha counties were the only winners in the region. Most of NE IL saw a pitiful amount of snow it was downright depressing. I lost count of how many times the models showed something fun brewing only for it to completely collapse or massively shift 48hrs out. At least we had a fun early start to this one but my greed is hoping we can manage another banger soon in the next few weeks. But even still this has been miles better than last year already. Last winter was so painful.

The lake is steaming

Ended up with ~4in. I’ll definitely take it.

We’ve started off pretty good here. MKE calling for possibly 6in near the lake in Kenosha and Racine counties with lake enhancement. Every snow so far has far exceeded my expectations. What a change from previous years (although even last year SE WI somehow locally cashed in during the few events we had). Loving this snowy start to winter. Dreaming of a White Christmas for once! Although this weather has been limiting how many Christmas lights and decorations are going up.

Definitely over performing here. We’re not even under a WWA. Not sure if it technically warrants that as well probably only end up with ~2in but so far it’s enough to make the roads a mess. They salted earlier but i haven’t seen them plow or resalt since things started and it’s making the roads a slick mess which i dint think the public was prepared for. Sure is pretty to get a fresh coating though!

Still going here in Kenosha at 1am. LES adding to the totals. Wind was ripping earlier and was actually kinda worried about my flag pole. My bird feeder isn’t doing well lol. But now it’s so peaceful. What a great fucking long duration storm this has been.

What are the thoughts on lake enhancement? MKE is mentioning it will increase totals but LOT seems to disagree.
