I'm pretty sure many have forgotten just how long a duration this storm is going to be. It's going to pivot and heavy returns will make its way back through. Patience folks. Currently puking snow here in Flushing Queens.

You keep saying that but the returns say otherwise. I'm here in queens and it's puking snow. I think the camera can make it look like it's snowing more or less heavily than it actually is depending on a few various factors...

No he means we got 5+ inches area wide that wasn't even picked up by the models.

That was an over an hour ago too, so possibly a fair bit more at this point!

Radar is starting to fill in quite a bit and the snow has picked up quite a bit here in intensity in Queens!

Ugh that stinks, but let the coastal do it's thing and it should turn to snow for a good chunk of the day, though where you are mixing/rain will definitely come back for some time at the end.

The storm has barely started, we were supposed to have very little snow at this point (we're definitely ahead of schedule snow totals wise) and based on all guidance the significant snows are going to last until the late evening/early Tuesday. It's a long duration storm.

Snowing at a pretty decent clip here in Flushing Queens... surprising when looking at the radar. In any case the snow totals seems to be way ahead of schedule for a big chunk of the sub-forum, considering the main event hasn't even started and the main event is quite long at that!

I'd venture to guess there's a bit of a delay in their estimates, right?

It doesn't look like it just expands NE, it looks like it expands in all directions.

I think Kuchera amount for nyc is prob closer to 24 inches. It's hard to tell due to the low resolution of this map, but I could be wrong.

I hear you, but usually there's a model or 2 in a different camp and the mets go with model majority+climo and the different camp was onto something. No matter what camp you choose it's 12"+ the 6" just looks out to lunch this close to game time imo.

6-12 inch storm watch for NYC is starting to seem a little silly - it's been at that for nearly 10 hours and I think plenty of data has come in for Upton to bump that figure up and set a winter storm warning.

If it makes it to 21" it's top 4, so there is a somewhat statistically reasonable chance of this albeit small, but top 3 is around 25" and that seems very unlikely lol

NAM is prob a little east and Euro a little west. Take a blend and you might have a better idea of the final map. That being said save for the far end of Long Island most of the subforum is in a good spot for 12-20+inches (and NYC is sort of smack in the center of both camps, fwiw)
