Zero is a stretch, but 2-4 inches is absolutely off the table
-
100%. I suspect Upton will make major adjustments to their forecast next update
-
Expectations quickly changing for the island. First batch will obviously miss, all bets remain on the stuff in Pa. Not the setup that brings the big rains
-
Agree. Expect LI to get a quick hit from whatever is left over as the front slides east. Sorta like a transitioning tropical cyclone where the center passes west of LI, and we end up with very little rain, while inland gets crushed. Better dynamics, and terrain lift.
-
Yeah LI will be predominantly some moderate showers. Hit or miss type of stuff. Just like the last event.
-
“Something” in this setup usually means a quick shower as the front runs into stable air
-
LI skunked?
-
Looks like things are dying as they march east, which comes as no surprise for most of LI. Especially, along the south shore in western Suffolk.
-
There’s some serious flooding in the Babylon, West Islip, and Bay Shore area. I’m in Brightwaters, where there are several underground streams. Basement flooding is going to be a major issue for the area
-
I’m in brightwaters, and it’s absolutely pouring
-
South shore LI looking good right now. Heavy rain
-
Looks like the bulk will slide south of LI
-
Does the stuff in Pa slide east? Or SE and then western half of LI stay completely dry?
-
Looks like the western half of LI will stay dry
-
PSA: DO NOT GO OUTSIDE.
-
Next, at least for LI
-
Rain threat for the island, especially for the immediate SS is teetering. Everything looks to be consolidating along the NS, and into NE.
-
Pouring again in Brightwaters. Pop up showers. Better than nothing
-
Pouring in Brightwaters unfortunately that’s probably the only rain that I, and most of the island will see
-
Looks like every other cold front that fizzles out as it heads east
-
91 in Brightwaters, which is quite impressive given our proximity to the Atlantic. Hottest day here so far note to self: don’t walk 9 miles in this heat. too late
-
Wind just flipped to light south breeze in Brightwaters. Temp down 2, 80 might have been our peak high for the day

I’m about 35 miles west, and we’re pretty close to that #

Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue
