  1. You really got to laugh at this point (or cry, no judgment). The band had been pretty centered on the northern row of IL counties up until the northward shift started yesterday. So now it's most likely zero precip here for the first two waves, with one going north and the other south (b/c that one won't shift north, I'm sure). Regardless, looks like we SHOULD get some good rain next week, which is sorely needed. I just hope it doesn't start drying up the closer we get, which has generally been a trend for us for a while now. Looks like the winter that started with a roar ended up below average precip and snow and above average temperatures. I just wish I'd appreciated the November storm even more (not sure if it's possible, tbh) since that and the follow up the first week in December were the only good snows of the season here. I really need to see if I can get therapy or medication or something to get rid of this sick snow obsession I have, because it only ends up in heartbreak.
  2. Yeah, lots not start new threads until the first flakes are falling (I'm mostly serious, ftr).
  3. I personally, have no interest in the wind. I much prefer heavy snow with zero wind. Of course, if there was so much snow that even the low places were still well-covered, it'd be okay.
  4. Welp, when you've only got the NAM on your side, you know you're f*cked. Glad the GFS could do us the same favor as the NE.
  5. Feast or famine. Yeah, they can get big ones that we'll never get since we don't have a nice big ocean right next to us, but they've also had years recently where they barely had any snow at all. I'd love to experience a big noreaster just once for the hell of it, but I'd take an average UP winter over anywhere tbh.
  6. But you promised it was going to be a Southern WI banger.
  7. It shit the bed with the prior storm, which the Euro nailed. It's hard to trust any model these days tbh.
  8. We only got .03" of rain and flurries. The drought goes on.
  9. Definitely too early, even for crocuses, which are typically the first spring flower to bloom. I see what appears to be a step in the background, I assume they are close to a structure? I definitely have some popping up, I noticed on Monday, but they're next to my house on the south-facing side, so not terribly surprised.
  10. Probably as good as we're going to get going forward. Next winter already looks like a nightmare with el nino. Only positive in a warming planet is the occasional monster storm, but lengthy periods with a solid snowpack in northern illinois are increasingly unlikely.
  11. SLC has had 0.1" all winter, so I guess we should just be grateful (though I find it incredibly hard).
  12. We definitely lucked out on a few of them, barely got 6" the whole month of January and the wind blew half of it away. Probably ended up in Michigan as per usual.
  13. Just under an inch of fluff with light snow still falling.
  14. If Michigan and/or Wisconsin were safer for LGBTQ people, I would. Unfortunately, I have to be concerned about my civil rights moreso than the weather.
