  1. 1.75 inches in Westfield right before the changeover last night, still a nice coating on everything. Just got to the shop in Simsbury and there's absolutely nothing otg
  2. West of the center we're about 3/4 inch now. Still no signs of mixing
  3. Half inch plus here now. Plows going by first time this season
  4. Still snowing decent here. Just starting to dust up surfaces
  5. Exactly, that's never a good sign for our area. And good to see you back
  6. The way we used to sing it was "your nuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nads" ... i forget the rest
  7. Ooooiiiii time flies! 06-07 looks right according to my snowplowing records. Man did I lurk here forever before joining!
  8. Pretty mind boggling for sure. Heck, I even remember a winter the last decade or so where we didn't get anything before mid January, and were above normal by seasons end. Unfortunately I have the opposite of Wills brain... so the year escapes me
  9. Good point. Years and years of observing weather in my general area will tell you that real meat and potatoes winter, and most of our best never get started until at least Christmas +- a week or so. I always see any winter weather before than as a bonus
  10. Currier and Ives look for some middle of next week on the 6Z GFS
  11. 30 with some freezing drizzle. Truck is iced over and driveway slick in spots
  12. I remember that well. I was supposed to have my wisdom teeth pulled the day it hit, and woke up to the heaviest snow I had seen in a while. From what I remember it was a surprise as well. IIRC I was watching Scott Dorval on WVIT explain that they had expected rain... and were surprised it was snowing in many areas outside the hills. Loved it, but had to wait another agonizing month to get the teeth pulled
  13. You got that right! So many teases in certain Novembers... only to be living the first week of April all winter with the sporadic dry frozen tundra arctic blast
  14. 6Z GFS says bombing Nor'Easter on Thanksgiving... time will tell
  15. I'll take the early December warm hit any day, if it means a better pattern late month... I just hate looking out past two weeks this time of year
  16. Exactly. Being over 50 now I forget many didn't have to suffer through most of the 80s and the first couple of the 90s, after having some nice winters the prior decade. Spoiled brats!
  17. Oh believe me I understand. Half joking here... however there's a type of fox called a fennec fox that is allowed to be kept as a pet in all of our neighboring states, except the Massachusetts
  18. Why would they do that? It's just another canine. Send it home with me, we'd LOVE to have one as a pet... but Mass won't let you keep one.
  19. I was just looking at numbers recently about China and South Koreas birth rates. The cause there isn't really a level of fertility, it's more a societal issue. China is actually going to be facing a severely declining birth rate due to governmental policy in the next few decades. One of the issues sited in the report is the fact that many will have to say goodby to cheap goods, as they'll be struggling to keep jobs filled etc, etc.
  20. He's Mis-remembering that true winter weather doesn't usually start til near Christmas in SNE
  21. Snowing pretty good on the hill in West Simsbury. Nice, because we're working outside... easier to keep dry
  22. Took the scenic route from Westfield to Simsbury this A.M. A few weenie flakes on the hill in Granville. 38 and dry here in Sims
  23. Felt so good at the start and then... nothing. I remember that one well
