  1. Drove through a tornado-warned storm near Goldsboro today and got caught in a hailstorm on 70. Quarter sized hail and easily 60+ mph wind. One of the wildest storms I’ve been in, had to come to a complete stop in the middle of 70 on the Goldsboro bypass. Likely have dents in my roof. Tried to stop at an underpass (for the hail) but there were 10 cars there and no room
  2. Wow what a hook echo that went through Raleigh
  3. Looks like TWC is zoomed to the eye of a hurricane. That CC hole is insane
  4. I hope everyone in Brent has a way to get underground
  5. Unfortunately, I have one for the archives today
  6. We talk year round about setups and threats, here is the culmination of a loaded gun setup maximized in a storm: textbook
  7. You can see when the tornado hits something on radar. Velocities remain maxed out throughout but you can see the pulsing bursts of higher reflectivity when it hits likely buildings. This things the monster you worry about with these parameters in this setup- it has come to fruition. I wish this was hyperbole
  8. That thing is a beast. I really hope we don’t see loss of life. Debris balls like that on radar mean high end tornadoes
  9. All it takes is one, and I’m afraid we’ve already had it. Hopefully the rest of the day doesn’t live up to the potential
  10. Going through heavily populated golf course communities. Not good.
  11. That’s just an awful looking debris ball on radar. Good grief. Hope everyone in the path is underground
  12. Yea, it’s still otg. May not be high end atm but this is a long track tornado that has definitely produced strong EF2+ damage in areas along its path
  13. Looks like a textbook cycle has taken place. Ominous for southern b-ham suburbs
  14. Cell approaching Tuscaloosa needs to be watched. Moving into clean air on the backside of the tornadic storm to its east and has some broad rotation already
  15. Believe we have our first monster of the day. Stay safe everyone
  16. This storm already looks more severe on radar than anything from last week
  17. Definitely need a whining thread for every season. Need a place for people to vent when a severe threat fails to produce a tornado that takes out their house
  18. The LP off the Carolina coast is very potent this morning. Really well wrapped up. Pretty cool radar loop
  19. There wasn’t a single severe report in the level 3/4 threat area. I’m sure there were 2-3 weak spin ups that certainly were scary and damaging under that meso low yesterday but that was outside the threat area. Like issuing a winter storm warning and not getting a flake but a rogue band set up and dropped 1-3 inches outside the warning area Not downplaying your experience, I’m sure that was harrowing. But this was a bust outside of a very isolated area. If it’d been a level 1 day no one would be calling bust, but it was forecast to be high end.
