My least favorite as well. "Normal" weather is too warm for much snow and too cold for outdoor activity. -
Very accurate map indeed. The little blue speck in far Northwest Indiana covers me, while it clearly puts everything south of say, Ridge Road over four inches. I work in Hammond, just north of 169th street, and there's a bit more snow here than at my house. The house is only three miles north of my workplace. Our delivery drivers said that yesterday there was noticeably more snow in Cedar Lake than Highland. We pulled all of our drivers off the streets that worked south of IN 231 yesterday at 1PM.

Got around 6-7 inches of snow. The winds have slackened off quite a bit. Upon further review, the call on the field has been revised. Around four inches of fresh snow fell. My enthusiasm was a bit robust this morning.

The 06Z Euro continued to model the heaviest snows just south of Cook County.

Well, that run of the NAM creates a three day weekend in this neck of the woods if taken verbatim.

A gentle band of lake effect is gracing itself over the house. It probably won't accumulate to much, but it's very soothing to the eye.

Quite a bit of snow here. Large drifts in some places. I'll guess at least 10 inches. Could be more. Grateful I have a very short commute home.

Maybe two inches of freshly fallen concrete here. Windier outside than I realized. Lots of weight on trees.

SREF Plume mean at GYY is 15 inches. I don't know if these are very accurate, but that's as high a total as I can recall. It's in line with the NAM and HRRR.

Typical lake effect. You're probably no more than 10 miles from as the crow flies. The west trend on the short range models is pointing towards Chicago now. Hard to get amped up about a narrow band of lake effect until it happens. Cautiously optimistic.

I guess I'll drop it in this thread. Lake County Indiana under a Winter Storm Watch due to possible heavy lake effect snow tonight into tomorrow. I try not to get too hyped up when dealing with lake effect.
