    Snowpack took a beating today in sunny spots. Still over 4 inches of pack in shady spots. We have a special weather statement out here for some spotty freezing rain in the morning. Overcast 36 degrees.

    I spent the past 3 winters looking at the MJO and posting it here numerous times. I came to conclusion that it means absolutely nothing for us. We fail when it is in both good and bad phases. Enso means much more. It may be that it matters more in a Nino than a Nina though?

    17 with 20 mile per hour winds. Took a quick walk around the neighborhood. Blowing snow burning my face. 8 inches of snowpack. Just a perfect winter evening.

    I disagree. 6 Snow events in two weeks with over a foot of accums ranks right up there with the best January's. We just never got a vigorous vort or a phase that completely bombed for us at our latitude. But imo its been a really good January so far.

    The GFS is keeping enough cold air to tap on this side of the hemisphere. It is different from the past few winters where it all got trapped on the other side.

    Haha. I keep going and stacking the wet snow from the road onto my end of driveway piles. They should turn into concrete overnight and be there for weeks.

    The longwave pattern has been better in early March lately for some reason. Warmer ocean?

    GFS is pretty close for next Sunday. That is a stout HP over the top. Better timing and its a good storm.
