  1. Took the dogs for a walk and it's just nasty. Temp around 37, 20 mph winds, drizzling. Even the dogs wanted to go in. Edit. No snow here yet Bucket. Temps hanging tough.
  2. It's 39.4 with heavy rain. Very little wind so far.
  3. Still getting some nice flurry showers coming through. Is that even an ob, "flurry shower"? I'm at 16.9 with some pretty decent wind gusts. Last gasp I suppose. A very nice day for us winter weather lovers. Cheers!
  4. Nice pics peeps. Every time I try to upload it says it's to large and I not going through the compression fiasco. Didn't get as much as Bucket but did measure a little over 8". Some big drifts on the backside of the property. Still some flurries with a temp of 17.4. Winds have increased a little too making for a very chilly evening. What a great little event to kick off the season!!
  5. Not really sure how much I've had but looks to be at least 6 inches and still snowing. I'll measure in a bit. Looks like some streamer action has set up. Very nice shower a little while ago. I'm at 20.5 degrees and breezy. All in all a great kickoff to December.
  6. I do well when the flow sets up from 315 to 325 degrees. Looks to stay that way for 4 to 5 hours before it moves to the 330's. I shut off pretty quickly after that. That's when Boone usually does better though.
  7. It's turned into a true flow snow now. You can see how shallow the layer is. The moon is very visible but yet it's pounding snow. It's squeezing out every available drop of moisture.
  8. Nice pics Bucket! It's been pretty heavy the last hour or so. Haven't measured but have to be pushing 4 inches. Nice event for the end of November!
  9. Moderate snow now with nice size flakes. Temps dropping again after a stall. Down to 23.1. Breezy but not bad. Just got back from walking the dogs and it was beautiful. It's Christmastime now.
  10. Pretty close. More toward Firescald. Nice coating now. Maybe an inch. Temp at 27.8 and slowly dropping now.
  11. Starting to get pretty dusty outside. Wonderful to see. Temp is down to 28.8 and it's breezy.
  12. Steady flurries at 32.2 . Gusty winds. Had an 7 degree temp drop in about an hour and a half. I finally get to reset my Snow Total signature.
  13. Yes. Let the winter season begin! DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday. A vigorous upper low will bring high amounts of moisture and cold air to the region Sunday through Tuesday. Rainfall is expected to change over to snow across the western mountains of North Carolina early Monday and continue into Tuesday. Elevations above 3500 feet could receive a few to several inches of snow by daybreak Tuesday.
  14. Very true. The top of Sugar Mountain just hit their high for the day at 34.7.
  15. Inversion is going to be big tonight. Temps here are pretty steady, only off 2 degrees from my high. Might be one of those nights where there is a 20 degree difference from valleys to the ridges. I got to 19.2 for the low this morning.
  16. Down to 43.3. The front crashed through around 4 pm. The wind switched from SW to NW in about 15 minutes and picked up to 25 mph with some decent gusts. Looking forward to a few chilly days.
  17. Wow. When you posted this I was at almost 50 degrees. Talk about inversion.
  18. Down to 30.9 here. Look for some inversion tonight. Valleys might go low while we'll bottom out and then rise a little before daybreak.
  19. First teens of the winter! Barely though, 19.2. No flakes here either.
  20. Just dropped into the thirties here(39.2) but the wind is howling. Highest gust was just a few minutes ago at 44. I thought it might be a little colder by now but I guess it's on the way. All in all, it was great day to be outside. My son's built a campsite years ago about a mile from the house. Got there, made a fire and cooked some lunch. Nice to be in the woods again.
  21. Going to get breezy tomorrow afternoon and night. This should put the chills down in single digit territory. ...HIGH WIND WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY MORNING... * WHAT...Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph possible. * WHERE...Avery, Yancey, Mitchell, Caldwell Mountains, Burke Mountains and McDowell Mountains Counties. * WHEN...From Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. * IMPACTS...Due to recent heavy rainfall and very moist soils...expect damaging winds capable of blowing down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
  22. Built one a little while ago myself. Just need a few flakes falling. Had a high today of 39.6. Down to 36.2 now. Wind has died down too thank goodness. I hate the wind when it's cold. I see Snowshoe is getting a good dusting this evening. "Bout time to wax 'em up! https://www.resortcams.com/webcams/snowshoe-village/
  23. Same here. Opal was rough but the double shot of those two resulted in the worst damage I've seen with tropical leftovers. Frances flooded us and then Ivan blew the trees down just ten days later. The blowdown is still very evident across my property.
  24. Picking up here as well. Just had a gust to 34. We moved back from the coast last week only to come home to a tropical storm! That's 2020 for you.
  25. Seems to be pretty spotty if you felt it or not.
