  1. I love the day before a decent storm. Good luck everyone.
  2. Just got home from our News Years trip to about a sloppy inch. Must have been about 32 or a little above here today. Not snowing now but things are getting a little crunchy out there. Looking forward to the next week or so. And yes, the caribbean is still one of the most beautiful places on earth!!!
  3. Merry Christmas. Last ob of the night. Nice shower coming through now. Still accumulating. I will leave Santa the last of the bourbon and cashews and retire. Couldn't have scripted a Christmas Eve better.
  4. Looks to be 4 or thereabouts. No measuring, hurt my back yesterday so I'm enjoying this one by the window. But I've got some killer spotlights that Bucket can probably see! They're everywhere.
  5. Still steady light snow and temps still dropping. This won't end soon with all that energy in TN. I expect this all night. Like what we were saying a few days ago, it's going to squeeze out everything it's got. All I know is that it's going to be absolutely beautiful tomorrow morning! That heavy snow that weighs in the trees, and then enough flow snow to keeps things well dusted. It'll be spectacular.
  6. When it finally flipped over here it's been pound town ever since. I had a ten degree temp drop in about 15 minutes. Remarkable.
  7. Still rain here at 34.2. Back edge is approaching quickly so hoping to maybe squeak out an inch. It should stick around for tomorrow though with a little flow snow on top. White Christmas!
  8. Temps are slow to drop here (40.3). Also noticed that it's almost 40 degrees on top of Sugar and Beech. Still light rain atm.
  9. Only .07 of rain here so far. Thought it would be pouring by now but I'll take it. One interesting thing to me is my temp has only fluctuated .2 degrees for the last 11 hours. That's unheard of here. Good luck to all the mountain posters. Eat, drink, and be merry.
  10. Kind of weird they would end the WSW at 6am Friday. The heaviest snow will be gone but the conditions above about 3k are going to be horrible. Anyhow, this would be a pretty wild event ordinarily but it happening over Christmas makes a lot better. Been awhile.
  11. Pick a base camp and drive to see the best snow. It varies widely but you don't have to go far wherever you stay. Then, just enjoy the town you're in.
  12. I would say probably. Looks like there's going to be a pretty decent flow behind this. I see us having some decent showers all the way to evening. It'll squeeze out every molecule with such a cold air mass. It almost always last longer than what people think or forecast. So come on up! Eat, shop, spend the night, we need the money up here.
  13. Heavy dusting here this morning. Temps hovering just above freezing so not much on the roads. While we have a little break, I need a radar site. I've never paid for a weather service (if you discount the money I've paid through the years of taxes to fund a weather agency) but I'm willing to if I can get a decent radar. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  14. What's sad is we were saying that over 20 years ago. After millions of dollars spent and countless upgrades we're still having to wait until 48 hours from an event for us to be able trust the models.
  15. This pic is so indicative of how elevation plays up here. The snow/ice/rime line can be a matter of just a few feet. Beautiful Bucket. Thanks.
  16. The new NWS radar is horrible. I hate it.
  17. Getting a great shower right now. I've got maybe 1.5 inches storm total. Down to 23.3.
  18. Very light snow here. Temp is dropping slowly. I'm at right freezing now. I see some black ice issues in the morning.
  19. Just rain here as expected. I'm at 34.1 and rising. Hoping for some backside action tonight and tomorrow. I know it won't be much but it'll give it a nice feel this time of year.
  20. Got down to 29.9 at 7 pm. Now at 33.7. I wonder if there is any correlation between the CAD getting stronger and temps rising directly to the west of it. I've seen this many times where I live. Maybe Moto is right where they merge.
  21. Only 36.1 here. I'm usually to far west for CAD to really effect us. I can't remember the last time I saw freezing rain here. Some sleet at times but not much.
  22. Let me know if I need to check in on the in-laws the first week of January.
  23. Actually, I was hired by the city to come down and show these Cajuns how to party. Congrats on the snow everyone. Looks really cold via web cams this morning. It's hasn't been that bad of a start to winter. Maybe it'll continue this year.
  24. Having to sit this one out in New Orleans. Enjoy folks! Will be in the seventies here towards the end of the week. We have it lucky in the mountains.
