  1. I love the chill. Perfect outdoor sleeping weather. Got out and did a nice hike in Crosby-Manitou state park. Was the first real hike my wife has done since getting a new ACL back in May. Like you said probably a little past peak but coming from down south it sure seemed vibrant.
  2. Camping up in Finland Minnesota tonight. Paging @Brian D. It is already down to 35F with a chance of snow showers overnight. Fantastic colors on the drive up. Along the lakeshore elevation ~600’ colors seem to be peaking but up the hill where we are camping ~1350’ it’s a few days past peak for sure.
  3. Low of 36 imby. High clouds kept us from really bottoming out. Grand Marais Minnesota reporting their first snow of the season yesterday.
  4. We are the same age and I feel the same way. Staring out the window is better then any other form of entertainment
  5. Congrats bo. Can’t say I’m not jealous central mn might see some flakes mix in tomorrow night.
  6. 53 outside, if we can clear the skies tonight might have some frost on the ground in the morning. Outside the metro a hard freeze looks likely.
  7. Looks like lake effect snow showers off Superior tomorrow into Friday.
  8. I’ll take a cutter pattern all winter. Usually means we cash in or are stuck in nice cold arctic air during a Madison special. Either one is better then a Fargo special which will probably happen from time to time too.
  9. Isn’t there some sort of irrigation/watering system in place? I’m a fan of native wildflowers/grasses instead of turf lawn myself. Save the pollinators.
  10. Every time we’ve gone through a dry stretch this summer and get added to D1 on the weekly monitor a line of storms will come through and drop around 1” which quickly catches us back up. Weird that I’m rooting for below average precipitation but in the 4 years I’ve lived in Minnesota haven’t had a year below average.
  11. This map gives a great view of how the event evolved from a straight line wind threat to a tornado threat as it moved east. Just incredible stuff.
  12. Images of the flattened corn in Iowa reminds me of the images of flattened pines in the Boundary Waters after the July 4th 1999 derecho.

  14. Glad to hear you are safe. Makes my 61mph gust overnight seem like child's play.
  15. My brother is without power in Des Moines. Says there’s pretty widespread tree damage in his neighborhood. (Walnut Hill)
  16. Widespread moderate risk on the SPC day 1 outlook in ND/MN.
