  1. Low of 1F, and another 0.5” of fluff last night to grease up the roads. Snow depth at 9” this is peak winter right now.
  2. Total thread hijack. Have you ever thought about building some bat boxes to attract predators?
  3. Isle Royale is incredible. I haven’t been since 2008 but loved it, our group had a Wolf walk through our campsite one morning which is super rare. We thought it was a rangers dog at first. Do you still get a reaction to mosquitos bites? I spent a summer working for the Yukon Geological Survey and ever since those 8 weeks of constant swarms my body seems to have developed an immunity to bites.
  4. Yeah we’ve build up a solid pack over the past week. There has been compaction but we haven’t had bare ground since November 26th. (Sorry Beavis) I live very close to the airport so I typically go off what they report, besides the occasional eyeball estimate. At 6am the total was 4.9” and we've added a little under an inch since, so storm total will probably be 5.5-6.0”
  5. I’d say the front has moved through. Time for some wind
  6. Measured 9-10” snow depth in the yard. Up to 33” on the season which is back above normal.
  7. 5” here. Transitioned back to light snow at some point overnight. Warmest it got was 25F so there is probably a glaze outside as well. We might make a run for 6” but that’ll be all. Definitely a disappointment considering what models were showing up until nowcast time.
  8. Switched to FRDZ at 21F in the dryslot. ~4.5” down. Should add a few more when things fill in later tonight.
  9. Up to 4” now, NWS thinking we will go into a period of FRDZ from 9pm-2am then switch back over to snow.
  10. Wind is starting to get going. I also hadn’t realized temperatures are colder then usually for a heavy snow event. 15-18F throughout with WC near zero.
  11. Continuing to see some really nice rates, definitely going to be my top event of the year here so far. hoping we get the pivot to keep us under returns this evening.
  12. +SN right now. Over 2” down based on shoveling eyeballs and stacking fast. Our snow depth was 5” before the storm hopefully we can overachieve but I’m thinking 6ish max here.
  13. It has begun in White Bear Lake, Minnesota.
  14. Temps running colder then forecast. Only 5F here. Dry air and model trends have me thinking 6” is likely event total here. HRRR wants to bring the mix up here. Not sure that will pan out but we’ll see
  15. ~0.50” of liquid equivalent imby. That’s quite a bit drier then what was being modeled this morning.
  16. Looks like the heaviest snow has shifted west of town. Should be rip city this time tomorrow regardless.
  17. Bottomed out at -9.6F, coldest air of the season imby. Time to get some frostbite working outside today and onto the snow.
  18. This is looking pretty weak imby compared to the last two waves, going to be a nice hit northern Minnesota though.
  19. 1.0” overnight followed by freezing drizzle/mist. Should clear out as colder air filters in and the atmosphere dries out, but it’s pretty gross right now.
  20. I do look pretty locked in right now so I guess based on recent model performance I should be worried.
  21. Still have two events before I have time to pay attention to anything here.
  22. Going to end up with 1-2” from tonight’s pixie dust event. Fun week ahead with lots of small stat padding events on the horizon, and maybe something bigger? State DNR releases their own snowpack map for the state weekly.
  23. 2019 Precipitation and Snowfall for Minneapolis. Wettest year on record for the Twin Cities.
