I guess the only thing I can expect for sure out of this is every different type of precipitation. Rain, Sleet, Snow, Freezing Rain, Ice Pellets..... Only question is how much falls this far north.
Isle Royale is incredible. I haven’t been since 2008 but loved it, our group had a Wolf walk through our campsite one morning which is super rare. We thought it was a rangers dog at first.
Do you still get a reaction to mosquitos bites? I spent a summer working for the Yukon Geological Survey and ever since those 8 weeks of constant swarms my body seems to have developed an immunity to bites.
Yeah we’ve build up a solid pack over the past week. There has been compaction but we haven’t had bare ground since November 26th. (Sorry Beavis)
I live very close to the airport so I typically go off what they report, besides the occasional eyeball estimate. At 6am the total was 4.9” and we've added a little under an inch since, so storm total will probably be 5.5-6.0”
5” here. Transitioned back to light snow at some point overnight. Warmest it got was 25F so there is probably a glaze outside as well. We might make a run for 6” but that’ll be all. Definitely a disappointment considering what models were showing up until nowcast time.
Wind is starting to get going. I also hadn’t realized temperatures are colder then usually for a heavy snow event. 15-18F throughout with WC near zero.
Continuing to see some really nice rates, definitely going to be my top event of the year here so far. hoping we get the pivot to keep us under returns this evening.
+SN right now. Over 2” down based on shoveling eyeballs and stacking fast. Our snow depth was 5” before the storm hopefully we can overachieve but I’m thinking 6ish max here.
Temps running colder then forecast. Only 5F here. Dry air and model trends have me thinking 6” is likely event total here. HRRR wants to bring the mix up here. Not sure that will pan out but we’ll see
1.0” overnight followed by freezing drizzle/mist. Should clear out as colder air filters in and the atmosphere dries out, but it’s pretty gross right now.
