Round 2 underway. Expecting to be slightly underwhelmed, but holding out hope we can achieve our 4th 6” storm of the season.
-
Waiting on round two to ramp up. Looks like things have shifted south a bit and I’m now on the far northern edge of the heavier snow. 4-7” of additional accumulation expected across the metro.
-
Flake size has been great so far. Light to moderate snow but stacking very efficiently
-
This project will never be done. They are doing a deep underground storm water storage system similar to what Chicago attempted with the big dig.
over an inch of new snow so far today. Cotton-balls falling

keep posting. Maybe Mchenry can live vicariously through your postings. Pictures a plus.
Tried to post the backyard webcam but apparently it’s over 1.95mb in size and it’s difficult to resize from my phone while working outside in this weather.

Steady snow now. All frozen

Changeover has begun. Dusting already

33 and light rain/drizzle here. 6-10” forecast later this afternoon and tonight. Certainly been a MN/IA winter so far. Might push 40” on the season after all is said and done with this system.

Should be a nice prolonged light snow event here to refresh our slowly diminishing snowpack.
-
Another day of dense fog and a dab of snow throughout the day. Snowpack holding strong at 8” with temps busting low today. Didn’t break 19F
-
Around sunrise the past two mornings in the endless dense fog we’ve been experiencing light snow develops and has producing a dusting to 0.2”
Probably a great setup for cloud seeding.

Parts of the sub had an epic February in 2019 in a decidedly Nina like pattern (despite that being a weak Nino) without North Atlantic and Arctic blocking. I feel more optimistic too that the pattern can remain favorable for longer for more areas with a decent likelihood of the blocking lingering.
That month produced 39” here. It was epic.

Received 2.5” in Minneapolis which puts us at 30.4” on the season with a current snow depth of 8-9”
-
8.7” of snow at the airport and 0.48” liquid equivalent.
comes out to an 18-1 ratio but it’s probably even higher considering a solid 0.1-0.15” fell as rain.

Final storm total of 8.7” here. Not sure how anyone was able to accurately measure.
Current temp of -2F our first foray below zero of the season.- 1

You're not a true weather weenie if you're not outside in those conditions.
The dog wanted to turn around before I did. Walking to the nearby Lake Nokomis you have a large open area to feel to full effects of the wind.

I can’t get the tweet to embed, but at 6pm
MSP 4.2”
Chanhassen WFO 5.9”

Just went out on a walk. Brutal conditions with significant drifting even in the middle of a major urban area.
Hard to tell how much we've received but I'd guesstimate around 4"

North central Iowa should do well. We lost some of what fell in round one due to temps holding in the mid 30s during the lull. 33.1F on the PWS but we should fall into the 20s in the next couple hours. Dusting so far with round 2
