  1. Not sure how that is. Every public place right now in NY requires a mask or no entry. Just the probability alone of being at places in the south at this time where they do not have such orders makes that a false statement. I know you're dying for travel and going to the gym but for a short time (and yes 6 to 12 months is short) to give those things up for the greater good really should not be debatable.
  2. I have stated this since the beginning. We are a selfish country worried about ourselves and no one else...whats best for me...i have also cancelled 2 trips this year and honestly I could care less. I will have other chances with my wife and with the kids as well next year or the year after. I just don't understand the allure from having to get away so bad right now.
  3. Literally went all around my house. Poured to the NE, South, NW, you get the pic...received about a 30 second shower and that was it. Maybe this afternoon/evening will offer more widespread hope
  4. Agreed!!! Love this discussion we have here at Americanwx but those days were pretty special.
  5. For all my buffalo peeps...the Don is back where it all began! He will be appearing on Monday and Tuesday in the 4 pm hour for the foreseeable future.
  6. Is it above the garage? Or near a wall or area that's less insulated? My son's room is on the second floor but his closet wall is the joint to the upper garage and us hotter in the summer and much colder in the winter...youre not having the second issue but it could be a possibility.
  7. I've always thought the one thermostat zone in a house with forced air was a horrible idea. Hot air rises. The full sun beating on your roof all day also adds to the heat upstairs. Having my nest thermostat in my dining room is useless as its the room that is in the shaded, back of the house, so as long as it's 68 there it doesn't matter it's 95 upstairs and wildly uncomfortable. Imo new houses should have multilevel smart zones for heating and cooling because a house doesn't heat and cool the same everywhere.
  8. Wow! One of the few! How careful were you during this time?
  9. I made mention earlier in this thread that the pattern were in now looks to last a few weeks. Up, down nothing sustained. Maybe July will be more uniform one way or the other?
  10. I think that law will be passed and made legislation in all 50 states within 3 years.
  11. Real roller coaster pattern. I'm not sure we see a long stretch of heat this year. The oatretn is conducive to spikes of heat and longer periods of cooler weather. This may change as we get into July but for the next few weeks thus looks predominate
  12. I mentioned this exact fact a week or so ago when we hit 93...the extreme weather of winter was a month before the winter solstice and the extreme heat was a month before the summer solstice...coincidence?
  13. How 20 hours can change...already 60's again by the weekend after a moderate warm-up...
  14. You know I've been kinda joking about this, but, wouldn't it be apropos if our hottest weather this year took place in May much like our snowiest part of the year was November? Food for thought...
  15. Yes, saggy balls. This is about 7 weeks too early
  16. That's a lot more than was forecast...and yes Dev is right the yard us a swamp here too...
  17. It's the point I made a few weeks back, not sure on this forum, but there will be retraction in 2 or 3 of the major sports. Think Florida Marlins, Florida Panthers, Winnipeg Jets, Ottawa senators, Arizona coyote...these teams could be in real trouble as they don't particularly have a strong fan base or longevity.
  18. These are great points of observation. It is concerning some of the video I've witnessed, especially the restaurant in Colorado that was slammed on mother's day and breaking several regulations. If I know WNY I know it's going to be near open season come this weekend when our first 80 degree day and happening on Memorial day come at the same time.
  19. I can say this with great certainty. No one in my neighborhood has been social distancing at all. On Saturday night, 6 different houses had some kind of front of the house gathering and neighbors were back and forth to each others houses, and yesterday didn't slow down much until it rained...with 70's and maybe a crack at 80 next weekend we will see many more gatherings like this. We will soon see if there's another spike.
