That faint streamer off Ontario has floated over BUF all night. Nothing more that a dusting but as of the 854am data pull we were on consecutive hour 58 of snow. Sure it’s not something data is kept on but has to be a pretty unusual occurrence for KBUF I would assume.?
Nahhhh…now the temperature difference…

Not sure how well this will post but looking at snow depth climo this has been our best year for max depth since 2014-15. We are way behind on the 1" baseline as Nov and Dec both only saw 2 days each with 1", and that was it! We followed it up with a Jan that had a 1" snow depth on 30 of the 31 days! The 6" and 12" depths will likely continue to grow for several more days but through Feb 3 here we are getting up there quick despite 0 days during the first half of the season!
‘99-‘00 had 114 days of 1” of snow OTG? That beat ‘76-‘77? Where was I…

Just saw the updated snow totals on WIVB…said Williamsville was at 12”…that makes me the opposite of Rochester airport…more like the Syracuse one…

Well they are 3-4 miles apart. The one that measured higher was closer to Lake Ontario and likely had lake enhanced totals while the other was 2.3” Ese of Lockport. Also if you weren’t measuring every 6 Hours with this pixie your totals would be much lower as it compacted quick.
That’s why I wonder if their method of measuring was sloppy or incorrect.

Highest totals were Lockport and perrysburg with 16.8” and 16.5”. Highest in Erie was 13.6”
Someone in Lockport does not know how to measure…either the spotter who measured 16.8” measured twice or the spotter that measured 9.6 needs a new method…

11.7" storm total 71.5" on the year. Thought we would get higher based on radar but the flakes never really increased in size here. Pixie dust nearly the entire day.
11.1” here. Not bad.

10.2” as of 10pm. Think we’ll end up somewhere between 12-14” before all is said and done. This stuff is no joke, pure paste on the bottom and sand and sugar grains on top. Still had almost 11” glacier before this event so pack is around 20” right now. Still snowing nicely.
Look to be getting some enhancement from Ontario. Flake size has changed in the past 20 minutes or so, no longer that “sugary” look, more flake like now.

Just measured 8.2”. This storm is a banger man! Just DUMPING out there. Better flake size and snowing at probably 1.5”/hr. Radar looks beautiful. Bout to go out and snow blow!
Up to 7.4” little over an inch/hour rates right now

BW I was just snow blowing the driveway and the thought occurred to me that this past 5 weeks have been truly epic in most of WNY. We will again be close to 20” otg after this event and I can’t remember the last time, probably ‘14-‘15 when there the snowpack was this deep area wide. Truly amazing!!! Taking the kids to ellicotville this weekend.

Turned into “storm snow” here around 3pm (good flake size, nice rates, bit of fog thrown in…storm snow). Continues to come done nice and steady. About 6” storm total so far.
Same 6.1” as if a few minutes ago. A foot seems like a formality.

This snow cakes the trees in white, really scenic stuff.
Pure currier and Ives…not feeling this storm. 1.9” and light snow with small dendrites. I’m going at the low end of 8” for KBUF and Williamsville…but if an underachiever

Its coming through fast now again. Looks like it got hung up again just NE of Buffalo for a bit but its moving again now. I think we flip to frozen mix by 11pm. Snowpack is holding strong! The smaller piles are getting hit but the untouched pack area is still a solid 7" was 10" prior to warmup. It will hold!
Yes it has flipped. Not pure snow yet but definitely dendrites

First signs of snow in the streetlight here! Full flip in progress.
Impressive that your area is cold enough to snow and about 4 miles from you it’s pouring and upper 30’s

Wow, this storm doesn't seem to be exciting anyone....or maybe rain obs aren't very exciting.
This system seems to be dwindling more and more. When it looked like 12-18” fir many it had more appeal. This is meh.

If you drive enough the $25 delta monthly program pays for itself. You save 12-22 cents a gallon depending on the promos.
My wife and I have it for that reason…and we picked it up for $19.99 just before Christmas. I believe it’s .18 cents/gallon lower. Pays almost 3/4 of that in discounts.
