  1. Honest question…did someone give the GFS anti winter software??? The system for next Wednesday is now completely gone and east of us…seriously, WTF! IIRC the GFS used to spit out cold as if it was on an arctic high all winter only to get squashed by the more reliable Euro…today it appears the Euro is the colder solution and the GFS is the wet blanket…
  2. I gotta say I’m getting pretty amped for next week…a lot of potential with each system to satisfy most of our weather wishes.
  3. Just passed right over me in Williamsville…actually got caught in it on way home from work…heavy rain mixed with hail…not graupel as it’s 50 out… crazy
  4. Gfs is there but phases a bit slower than the Canuck…awaiting the Euro…which just showed an in between version of the GFS and the Canuck…it would be all snow but a 2-4” type event more as you go south towards PA line. 5-6 days out but all looks in unison…for now
  5. Sadly I think this is a southtowns special. The north towns will get their turn, just not this event
  6. Just had a gust that shook the house. Had to be over 50mph…sun was out for about 30 minutes…wonder if that helped in mixing the atmosphere a bit more?
  7. Yes that same event we picked up 3.2” in Williamsville and the grass was covered…it didn’t last particularly long but it was shovelable
  8. Any way you slice it next week beginning Sunday afternoon looks very active. The big player will be the WAR and it’s strength. GFS says it’s on steroids and the Euro says it’s just the the weakling…if it’s closer to the Euro then we get a good chance at a bunch of snow…if it’s the GFS then we pull out our inner Seattle
  9. Not if it’s anabactic moisture…I believe back in 2010 we had a similar scenario and picked up 4” behind the front…the southtowns then got crushed with a big LES event
  10. Hell I hope it blows right through superior and north into Ontario…Buffalo metro special
  11. The WNY bunch might like the long range on the NWS text for next Monday…ok maybe I’ll like it, WNash and Luke Mages…the rest of you are banished to TugHill Matt’s…
  12. It amazes me that with almost 1/2 foot of snow you’d never know it as it has melted as fast as it accumulated.
  13. That last GFS 12z run was Uber close to reeling off 3 straight snow makers…as it is they’re rain for now. As for the dome I agree with you. We the fans look forward to the elements and watching as plenty of southern teams crumble in the conditions!!! Leave it as it is and if I’m too nostalgic keep it it in OP as well.
  14. It appears, at this week away distance, that BOTH, yes BOTH models try to give us a storm next Wednesday timeframe. The Bills game on Monday night per the GFS would be quite windy with LES potential and the Euro not as windy but also less chance of precip.
  15. Does anyone remember when the GFS had the cold bias? I feel like a the Euro and GFS have swapped
  16. It’s pure snow inland. Out in Williamsville and Lancaster it’s moderately snowing. Too bad it wasn’t 5 degrees colder. And as for the GFS…the Euro is not on the same page…wondering which will be correct
  17. Snowing the consistency of powdered sugar this am. Some “heavier” returns north over Grand Island and Niagara Falls…the weekend storm flipped (shocker) on the morning models as now in the GFS it’s rain to snow and on the Euro it would be an all snow event.
  18. Performing a little recon mission here and scoping out the upstream radars…lansing Michigan is reporting moderate snow and has a WWA for 1-3” of snow. They are not near Lake Michigan so it’s not lake aided. The advisory also says there could be locally higher amounts. Could we see a bit of an overachiever here?
  19. Yeah I know it’s to be taken lightly but it still makes me shake my head
  20. Anyone else tired of the extreme waffling on the operational models? Jack Nicholson’s character in the shining Johnny was more stable…
  21. Just drive through that entire band in the way back from Florida. Snow really picked up about 15 miles outside Erie, by the time we got back to the 90, it was a complete whiteout into The state line and up to exit 59…and yes we had thunder snow! As soon as we hit Dunkirk everything had stopped and you wouldn’t have known it snowed.
