This is one of those years. Strongly resembles some 1990s winters to me. We got spoiled by it finding ways to snow the past 20 or so years. I think a lot of younger posters are living through their first snow droughts. .

Never underestimate what the Olds here have seen before and see again. .

I hope everyone gets their sleep rather than tracking storms, because it’s just not happening this year. It’s not the season for us. .

I think that’s hyperbole. Please, I am not disagreeing with you or discounting AGW or denying it; I’m just exhausted by every “bad” thing that happens is CC. I am just as worried and annoyed by it by all of us here. I’m of the opinion that we have to both learn to live with it, use technology now and in the future to help mitigate it, and realize it’s a trade-off from our tech-heavy lifestyle and longer lifespans. It just feels like now when we’re having a lousy year, we all act like I did when I was in the third and fourth grades and it just never wanted to snow. Maybe it will help when the machines take over and we’re subjugated by them. .

We’re also suffering a collective breakdown. .

Probably not going to happen. If it hasn’t happened yet, why start now? I’ve seen this movie before. .

One thing I’ve learned from watching winter weather here my whole life - of knowing nothing other than just life and experience - is to not trust anything past five days other than if a long range forecast calls for really warm or really cold. Outside of that, it’s just educated guessing. If a temperature is within average, snow can occur if the storm track is right. The looks and patterns you speak of are just like, ok, cool, we might get an environment that’s more favorable to snow, but there’s no guarantee it will happen. That’s the worst. My yard and the kids’ baseball fields will be muddy. Why bother at that point. .

I’ll give you a spring prediction: It’s gonna be cold, it’s gonna be grey, and it’s gonna last you the rest of your life. .

And by the way, I would like to be wrong, but this season has lost that loving feeling. .

While I do appreciate the Mike Tyson’s Punchout between your relentless optimism and his unending nattering nabob of negativism, this year is just very much like 1991 or 1998 or 2002, and it just doesn’t want to produce, for whatever reason. Maybe Stella will get her groove back next season. .
