  1. I believe cross-referencing posts from another forum is against the rules. Just take care guys. Don't end up with the weenie tag or worse.
  2. The thing I remember most about Sandy is the downed trees. We lucked out because they were half-defoliated because it was late October.
  3. You can pretty much be certain that those are extinct. They will not be missed. I remember the days when I would get so pissed due to the suppression.
  4. The snowless winter of 19-20. You will be remembered.
  5. Guys there's never really been Category 5 winds at the surface away from coastlines ... ever. There's not much common sense in this thread. You need perfect conditions and topography for 140mph+. As for Dorian. All of the reporting equipment failed as the highest winds impacted Abaco. There were clearly category 5 conditions at the surface.
  6. Truely a beautiful and peaceful place that has been taken from us in a indefinite emotional cost.
  7. I wonder how many lucky breaks we will get. Maybe the HAARP people were right.
  8. You may want to rethink your retirement plans after this hurricane or at the very least reconsider buying coastal property.
  9. God willing Josh Mogerman did not look at the 0z HMON. I think he's made it through sub 900mb landfalls but the Bahamas are very flat for the most part.
  10. The question is how do you feel about this? I'll take the CMC over the GFS any day of the week.
  11. That would be the weather equivalent of fake news.
  12. Late season dirty ridging is so dangerous because it is carrying the momentum from peak insolation. At least that's how I interpret the situation. Here is some perspective.
  13. If it's inevitable then when it happens does not matter. Nobody payed attention to Paul Beckwith's three-legged bar stool.
  14. Is that 100% ice-free? 90% ice-free is regarded as largely the correct definition. Once that happens the rest is not far behind. The Arctic effectively turns into a sub-tropical ocean basin with persistent cloud cover in the winter. It is the primary mechanism for the tipping point.
  15. How is it 32 at Salisbury and 39 in Georgetown? That is bizarre for sure. 31 at KWWD. Heavy snow burst but now dryslotted.
  16. Death by humidity and fog. The second shortest path (fastest being bottom melt from atlantification) to ice free/blue ocean. The most interesting melt season to date - most people just don't know it yet.
  17. Something must be broken. I don't even know where to begin when explaining the discrepancy between HYCOM and PIOMAS ice volume.
