As do most folks! In terms of the moss, it does not care about soil ph too much all about staying wet. Either through areas that do not drain or too much shade. Mowing really low (1.5-2" ) in spring or extended periods of dark/wet weather helps get light and air flowing in to dry the soil out. I have had much fewer moss issues since doing it this way.

Yea I had a serious moss issue as well. How much shade do you have? Was it Scotts Step 1 w/ Crabgrass Preventer?

Got a giant out of the Quabbin on Wednesday. Was the baby's first largemouth experience.

I have just gone to using a digital meat thermometer. With the sun yesterday 2" down was up to about 50-52* by the end of the day.

Love that night temps are staying ~40 or higher. Soil is still only about 44*. Mowing it down to 1" to get it spreading. Definitely seen a nice burst the past few days. I imagine the next five with warmer temps and rain will really get some growth going. I'm thinking I have fewer bare spots to fill than I thought. Definitely going to garden weasel up larger areas around the back side of the Oak tree and the edge of the driveway and seed those heavily. Anything bigger than 6-8" I will probably scrape a little and seed. Bought more peat moss than I needed to cover all the newly seeded spots.

I'd add Six Feet Under to one of the best. There are some shows that got cut short (2-3) seasons that I'd take over Breaking Bad such as Deadwood, Spartacus (that show is off the wall, shame the main actor died so young), and Newsroom.

I like the iron in it that will make your lawn go dark green. Another reason to love it.

We started Goliath prior to season 3 of Ozark coming out. Now I'm really looking forward to it after hearing this discussion. That said, almost done with season 2 of Goliath and it reminds me a lot of The Wire. First season was OK but second is excellent and off the wall. Cartels be crazy.

Bark, it is the only vey. REALLY like the stone edge on those lower beds. Funny observation, the only moss spot is where that sitting rock casts some shade.

Hit Lake Warner in Hatfield yesterday since the Oxbow is closed. Pretty awesome looking water. One whole shore was a river channel 5-8' deep with trees down. The opposite was 2-3' lily pad fields. Found some pretty cool old foundations and stone walls with the sidescan unit. Eight largemouth but nothing over 2.5 pounds (all came on the jig), a handful of pickerel on the swimbait, and even a 16" rainbow on the damn Ned rig. The first warm day brings out all the stupidity. Dozens of folks out in canoes or kayaks, no care for social distancing around the boat ramp or that Mass requires life jackets until May 1 given cold water temps. At one point I'm fishing a jig 20' from shore and two yakers (who have hundreds of feet to go behind me) tried to cut between the boat and shore.

Nice! Only issues I have seen with sod is when it goes from growing in a ton of direct sun to being placed in/around more shady areas. Probably through down some milo or 10-10-10/light fert around Memorial Day (or 5-6 weeks after it was laid down).

Yea it is a bummer. I got burnt out tournament fishing, was doing 30+ a year at one point. Really enjoyed fishing the Bassmaster Weekend Series years ago but it was a grind (12-14 hour days on the water, hours prepping, zero sleep, driving for hours). I might get back into it again.

I accidentally catch them bass fishing. I've probably caught over a couple dozen rainbows and browns this year. Had a 4 pound brown last week. All of them have either come on lipless cranks or blade baits yo-yoed. So if fishing in a lake with sparse cover and salad over 8' I let the bait drop to the bottom, snap it up and let it fall back down, almost all the way to the boat. I hate seafood and fish. I'm the same way. Second date with my now wife I choked sushi down thinking I was going to puke each time. I throw everything back but my wife and some other family members love it so I keep trout and salmon I find. I did try lake trout last year and it was actually pretty damn good. No fishy taste, just like the best chicken you've ever eaten.

Lots more time to fish during the quarantine. Still lots of rumors and rumblings about the Quabbin opening so I've been hitting some new waters. Amazing the number of trout stocked this year in Massachusetts. Been our 5-6 times thus far and more trout than bass, and that is not on purpose.
