Naw this is glorious. I've been outside taking care of our horse and it's exhilarating.

Yea down to 37 at DCA and I'm down to 31.

We have horses and are just glad they have somewhere to get out of the breeze when it gets into the teens tonight.  Also good to see winds have been dying down for their sake.

This really belongs under current obs, but it is cold tonight folks.  It can still get cold.  RELAX,  plus wining about it does not make it better.  And being nasty about it really is ridiculous.  If we have a cold January we just need a little luck.

The forecast high here is 31° tomorrow and low of 14° tomorrow night!  I take, although I will be sitting by the wood stove for sure!

wow---punting again. We just lost another winter week. Although it looks like it could be doable by Dec 20th

    What punt?

This board has pretty consistently been thinking a cold snap this week and next (with a small chance for a wave Dec 5/6 and a small chance for a second wave Dec 8-12) followed by a warm up before it gets cold again and we head towards peak climo in a moderate nino with some pretty nice analog years.

People need to chill.  Freaking out doesn’t make it snow.  If it did, we would have been dumped on the last 3 years.  All it does is make this board a more miserable place and turn off great posters like Bob Chill.

If you want to see snow turn the  kansas state  game on now  on Fox

Been excited about this game since this morning!  I scan radar for snow, look at models, and then whether there are football games scheduled inside the precip shield.

A few years ago, a buddy of mine and I created an algorithm that looks at GPS text output by hour (specifically the qpf field and the 850 temp field) and then cross-referenced the NFL schedule to alert us for snow games.

Tonight’s game looks like it will rank an 7 or 8 out of 10 on our snow game rating scale :snowing:

No. We had a decent snow here right before Thanksgiving somewhere in the 2014-2015 range

Had 5” here and lost power.  My dad and I slept by the wood stove while my wife and kids and mom went to my mother-in-laws since their power stayed on.

You mentioned Swoope. Do you by any chance work at VDOT?

No, but I am only a couple of miles from that VDOT location.

Car thermometer said 15 to 18 degrees this morning on my commute.  Radio was saying 19 degrees.

my dude - i spent my teenage years in Staunton (in the city).  I know it's not completely universal in Augusta Co, but let's be real here.

Real about what?- that many people who live in cities stereotype rural populations as dumb and backwards?  I have lived in the valley for nearly 30 years and have met many smart, thoughtful people and seen the arts and music scene thrive.  There are doctors, lawyers, professors, engineers, meteorologists, etc that live here just like in urban areas.  Sometimes stereotypes are just that.

Woke up at 6am it was 32 degrees. Left at 7am and the temp already was up to 36. Goes to show you how strong the sun angle is this time of year.

Yeah, crazy temp swings this time of year.  NWS has a frost watch for Friday night and Saturday it rises to 72

Remember when this month was going to be cooler than normal?

Had frost in the morning and another warning from lwx tonight here in Augusta County, but other than these two evenings, it has been about normal to a little cold this month

Safe to say he's not gonna take the bait.

It was not really bait as much as it was a comeuppance.  He talked a lot of trash about not getting any snow in March and specifically mentioned me to rub it in, one of the only posters on here that just had a 12hr+ snowstorm. He talked a lot of shit and when I called him on it, he disappeared and ran away.  He deserved my response and the fact he didn’t respond is telling.
