  1. You need a countdown clock in your signature section. Not that anyone is counting.
  2. Here is a webcam in Hamden, in case it is heading that way: https://www.see.cam/us/ct/hamden/highwood-historical-scsu-route-10-foot-bridge
  3. Not really uncommon to have furnaces in NNE in September. I usually run my furnace at least once in September. No need yet but most windows got closed last night and I had the heat on in the car for a good chunk of the commute today.
  4. What is the plant? Is it a type of Canna?
  5. In response to this model run, Eversource has cut power to SE CT customers for the next 4 hours so they can practice for not having power for a week.
  6. Pouring here in Rutland, for a drought it has been raining a lot here (though missing close by)
  7. I misread this at first as "I've always loved Kevin's poetry" and quickly thought of "Ode to Dews," "A Few Lines Above a Downed Eversource Line" and "To Fescue my love" His classic remains: "I went out in the mornings dews To escape the suppression news My sweet sweet lawn Looks most lovely by the soft light of dawn But an Eversource line was down Laying near my remaining straight edged snow mound the 'lectricity sizzled and fried My poor fescue till it died revealing a brown straight streak like a turd left by a bruin in the land of Powderfreak." I am jealous as Kev's lawn when fried still looks better than mine at its best.
  8. Do you have any problems with the water from the downspout of the gutter running off into the pool?
  9. Nice crisp 48f to start the day this morning. (that was the temp at 5:45am, I didn't bother to look if it was cooler before that) Felt nice walking around the garden.
  10. 50 at the house this morning was a nice way to wake up. I just got caught in a downpour walking back through town- first time wearing this suit too. Fortunately I had a spare suit and an emergency shirt at the office.
  11. Looking at your Nest cam, it looks as if the land slopes down and away from you. Is that correct? If so that would allow the colder air to drain away from you as the night settles in. We have had a similar temp pattern at our current house and the last one as well,
  12. Can you see all the way south to Shaftsbury, VT?
  13. Nice to see you other "back broken" folks joining the party.
  14. You may want to not tell folks or else the dew chasers will descend on your location.
  15. My memory is that years ago (80s or early 90s) a small town in Southern New Jersey claimed to have recorded 25 inches in 5 hours when a Tstorm just sat over it. I have been unable to have found any mention of it when I have searched so my memory could be wrong. Edit: Weather.com claims NJ record is 14.8 inches in 24 hours so it could be the report was wrong, never verified, or my memory is off or all three. https://weather.com/news/climate/news/extreme-rainfall-precipitation-recorded-50-states
  16. Nice ten minute downpour just now. Grass very happy. Weeds happier.
  17. About 2/3 of an inch here based on the two closest stations. Kinda humid now, dew is 65 which feels sticky after the past few days.
  18. Then there is the wind to consider. When we lived in Peacham, the coldest night we had was right after a frontal passage and the wind was up. It prevented the cold air just sinking below us like it would on calm nights. We quickly got to about to -28. On a calm morning, we would often be 7 to 10f warmer than just half mile away where the elevation flattened out about 300' lower than our house. So many variables. edit: and so many typos
  19. For those of you concerned by the cool morning, rest assured that the Euro and GFS are in agreement of no snow the next 10 days. While I have not tracked the GFS performance in this regard, Euro was dead on re July snowfall. It is on a roll!
  20. 52f here. A couple of days ago it felt like maybe the back of summer had been broken. It definitely seems that way now. Chamber weather for days to come. Soon the leaves will need to be peeped at, I will get in a panic to get outdoor chores down prior to the freeze up, the GFS will flip from having a 942 hurricane at the end of every run to having a blizzard coming just inside the benchmark to finish each cycle, and someone will set up a thread for this year's Grinch storm.
  21. Don't forget the snow Sandy left in WV.
  22. That would probably cause damage in Tolland.
