Well forget Short Pump, Currituck is a SNOW town!
-
Some nice churn down in OBX. https://www.outerbanks.org/webcams/

NBC12 ticker has us under Winter Storm Warning. I thought something had changed overnight but just a pretty big mistake on their part has been running like that for over an hour.

The man has more busts than Canton.

Memorable is subjective. I guess what I meant, is that this stretch of cold with snow on the ground, as it has been a while, not even 2015 cold snap lasted this long.
-
Yeah, we are finding all of our usual ways to fail. 2 feet of snow becomes 2" sleet bomb - Check 2 feet of snow from coastal, suppressed - Check But, still a memorable stretch of winter due to the cold.
-
-
That being said, still rooting for our coastal brethren. Hope it buries the King Neptune statue on the boardwalk.
-
Always does at 6 days. 2 days? That’s another story.

ENJOY! If I were single, I would be booking a rental in OBX and hang out at Lucky 12 or maybe Goombay's (more windows) until the kicked me out or lost power, whichever came first. Oh shoot, Black Pelican, wall of windows and a fireplace at the bar.

It's not unheard of, but James River is frozen in between Belle Isle and Tredegar. My office has a great view of it. It's been a while that it has been cold enough for a long enough duration for that to happen.

Ross Runner, he has been around a while, so hopefully he is correct. Funny how we used to rank the TV mets and their snow weenie levels. Jim Duncan had a snowmobile when he first moved here, loved snow, but always erred on conservative. John Bernier was the most animated and would come up with great euphemisms like "Falling like lard" for snow rates. I think he liked all weather because he was just as animated, if not more so, during severe weather season, when we had one. Mike Goldberg, was doing 6 I think, the same time those guys were on. Much more measured, and a bit conservative also. They all lived by the EURO, and I think most still do.

Well, if we did not combine, we would have threads that stay quiet longer in the off months more than this one already does. It was hopping more in here when Midlo and migratingwx kept it alive. Inudaw, I think, is our only red tagger that visits and posts here. Maybe I should see if DT would hop back in.

Whatever we get, yes, will be snow on snow, no waiting for most roads or lawns to cave. You won't have the inevitable watch the mulch go white, okay, now the grass, then driveway and roads. This stuff will stick, so, hopefully, will pile up quick.
-
That will be two very reasonable, solid map wins for DT. I do miss some of the fireworks he provided on Eastern back in the day. Always entertaining.

2-4" would put us at or over climo. So, not going to pout but still want to break through that 6" ceiling.

Wow, am I the senior statesman? 55 years in RVA, specifically, the Tuckahoe area, with a break in the Fan and sometime in Glen Allen and Goochland for two years. I still think this has some legs, but I am a glutton for punishment.
-
Yes, and I would love to break that streak. However, the early December snows, this storm and stretch of cold, this has been the most extended stretch of "winter look and feel" since 2015. I hope we get clobbered this weekend but also with @mikeeng92 and if we get some snow on snow (always feel dirty typing that) I am going to call this winter a raging success for RVA.

Right where we want it...for once.

Absolute mauling and beatdown. GFS requires it be taken with some major salt, if you can find some, check the bottom of your boots.
-
Again, at least it is something to track. And, if our friends in the Tidewater get buried, I hold no ill will as this is the Richmond Metro and Hampton Roads subforum, not just RVA. But, if this comes to fruition like it is and they get buried, including Newport News, ldub cannot complain for two years about lack of snow.

A little like curling without the little brooms

I will say, numbers from Dominion are good. Actually down from the peak. Only 3,449 people out, again Richmond area under 100. I know we are early, but fingers crossed. Really don't feel like firing up generator and running extension cords to insure I can watch the games.

Or shovel some of that concrete. I woke up with my back out from chopping wood yesterday, managed to shovel most of the walk, but where it drifted from a dormer, my side stoop stairway, up to a foot on the steps. Frequent breaks, but managed to get through it. Open door for pug (not in the avatar, that was Bogey my first boy) but Percy came out looked around and high tailed it back in, spoiled dog.
