    They are celebrating the GFS in the main thread, looks a bit dicey for us on that run with mixing and low snow totals. Don't get me wrong, I will take 3-4" over anything with what have had as of late but here them bellyaching all day about suppression when they know it always shifts in their favor annoys the living crap out of me.

    Virginia actually does have a Green Bay but we also have a Cuckoo as well. I was in Glen Allen from 2004 to 2013 then to Goochland in Manakin now in Tuckahoe, so yeah, always need to measure our temps and snow as it never matches the airport although, and I credit our forum leader for this one, they have gotten better after changes a few years back with regards to measuring snow, although, none to measure so that helps their accuracy.

    I will be surprised if we get "vodka cold" but even if it modifies a bit and we have snow on the ground? Might be the coldest stretch run in a while.

    I dunno, seems we never verify on the cold side like that, now if it showed 70's in January, I would say book it. My experience is that it always modifies, if it is forecasting single digits for RVA, it's probably more like mid to upper teens. Now, out there in Hokie Bird Land, you might be single digits for sure.

    I will wait for the King to weigh in at 1 before I get the slightest of hopes up. I will take a few inches, minimum, and then have it hang around for a while, that would be nice.

    I would be lying if I said that had not crossed my mind every winter for that past 7. It really feels that way, and not just Central VA and Tidewater, but along the whole I-95 corridor. It only makes sense tracking ocean temps, it takes a lot off the table for us. I am just a weather geek, not my profession but it's really hard to ignore the reality that has been presented. I hope we can still get the occasional lucky thread the needle type scenario.

    50 mph! Batten down the decorations. I am glad I don't do any inflatables, for multiple reasons, but the mortality rate on those suckers could be high if that forecast holds.

    I am good with that amount, my Christmas lights were shorting out with the 3" from the past Sunday.

    Richmonders forget how to drive in between just annual snows, it has been so long that I can't fathom the level of ineptitude 5-7" after a snowless year last year would introduce.

    Any December snow, shoot, any snow and the even the possibility are welcome. While I hate being above average in early December, it gives me hope as it seems to be following the playbook that most seasoned mets have pointed to when forecasting this winter season.

    My first and only white Birthday (11/12/70) my senior year in high school, think we were sledding with the plastic red cafeteria trays as I don't think we got out of school, I may have to check that one.

    Thanks again for rattling the cage RIC Airport. Just need Midlo to post in this thread to get some good snow making ju-ju working and then I will feel confident we will not be uttering the word 3-peat come April.

    Yes, it looks like a bomb went off down the Grove Avenue corridor on my way to work. Popped up quick to the south of Tuckahoe and winds were impressive, reports of hail but I did not get any (in Tuckahoe) limbs and trees down, power outage over 100K at peak.

    I didn't even watch the show but I think it is from Game of Thrones and Winter is Coming -- the sword kind of gave it away for me as I think they have a replica of it with the phrase on Big Bang Theory

    To paraphrase the great Meat Loaf, 2 out of 3 ain't bad but 0 for 3 would just plain suck. I want that one big one so we can reach climo and call it a winter.
