  1. Ice everywhere and several wrecks in Caldwell County. Rained in the mid 30s last night but almost everywhere in the county dipped into the upper 20s by sunrise.
  2. Feeling more confident that whatever falls here may be freezing rain or sleet. My temp is down to 36, DP of 19. Wet bulb of 30.6.
  3. we don’t thank you enough for your contributions to the group
  4. I’m taking anything past 100 hrs with a grain of salt but IF this Pacific jet comes to fruition, we will burn weeks trying to break it down
  5. Oh boy. That pacific jet could be raging. What’s the saying? What happens in December the winter will remember?
  6. GSP says ratios for the mountains could be 20:1 . Good luck everyone! I say @Bucketheadgets another foot.
  7. I’m not going to sweat weeklies or any model run past 5 days. The models haven’t even been in the ballpark at 100 hrs this winter, so there’s no need to think about a forecast that’s 13+ days out.
  8. La Niña is gonna have guys like Josh Morgerman and Reed Timmer taking short trips this summer and fall
  9. Oh don’t get me wrong. Definitely didn’t mean it like that. Luckily the mtns will continue to do well with flow and nighttime snowmaking.
  10. If it ain’t gonna snow, I’m good with temps that let me get outside. Until the PNA is firmly positive, let it be 80 every day.
  11. the first one smells like a pattern that leads to suppressed storm tracks
  12. This isn’t designed to be a pessimistic post but the reality is that outside of the mountains, we’re all going to have to dial back our expectations going forward and we should ignore the Mets who love to throw out lofty analog years every given winter. The oceans are cooking right now. The Atlantic is breaking all-time records for warmth this time of year and a warm pacific has contributed to an absurdly bad pacific pattern for us not only now but for years. It was challenging to get snow decades ago and it’s a big ask now when our region is constantly torn between mild pacific patterns and a SER that just can’t help itself with the Caribbean temperatures 100 miles off our coastlines.
  13. 27 and dropping like a rock here at the house
  14. Gods Country. One of my favorite parts of the state and one of the most underrated.
  15. I’m coming too but I’ll bring my own air mattress or sleep in the car.
  16. I’m not implying the odds are even remotely in our favor with this system but this is certainly an interesting point: https://x.com/dcareawx/status/1747291546888675406?s=46
  17. Some of yall are missing a huge side hustle opportunity. Strap a GoPro on the chest when you go for a walk and post it on YouTube. I realized recently there is an absurd craze for that sort of thing on YouTube. check out Lvfree. He always films around the Toronto suburbs. https://youtu.be/egEV2W3sa9Y?si=5roOGW9uWZCbnev5
  18. One thing that makes me much more optimistic moving forward is that we’ve lacked any sort of snowpack in the higher latitudes to this point. That has changed dramatically the past week and will continue to do so. Southern Canada is a freezer right now and we just need one high pressure to slip into the right spot with an undercutting storm and we’re in business. Of course - easier said than done.
  19. This is just nuts. We wouldn’t even be able to wrap our brains around that snowfall forecast and they’re gearing up for it twice in one week
  20. Yall there’s frozen precip tonight almost to the oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. A better winter in southern Louisiana than here.
  21. Keeping the power on is going to become an issue for you guys here pretty soon
