Nice. Here over on Beech at 4650. Not trying to be a party pooper but the 3k NAM often overdoes NW flow type snow events.
Good to know. Yeah I’m going with Ray’s forecast..maybe 2” above 5k..maybe an inch at the bottom

Gilkey, Union mills, Marion looked to be the biggest winners coming up 221 earlier today

Just go to Highlands. Several inches on the ground there. It's a lot closer to Greenville
Meh. I’m staying at SugarTop. I’m going skiing this weekend

Got caught again. Happened with the icing even a few weeks back too. I’d sure hate to be a bus driver taking a bus down into vein mtn in a few mins.
Coming from Greenville, should I take 74 all the way to banner elk or should I go 74 to 64?

Shocked when I pulled up the Banner Elk 184 cam, no accumulation whatsoever.
Employees cleaning the ice skating rink off on the sugar cam. Must be accumulating pretty good up there. Hammering at the summit, for now

It’s throwing down at sugar right now. Ray is about to bust on this one if they can keep wringing that moisture out. Still calling for a dusting to 2” lol

I’m getting dry slotted!
You need the dry slot so the rain doesn’t wash it away right after

Heavy snow here in Fountain Inn. Rippage. Total annihilation. Dusting. I love it when a plan comes together

One of the few times I jackpotted! 8” of paste! Thunder snow, after about 12-14 hours of rain and thunderstorms
Yeah..that one had 20” potential here..can’t complain though..now I would be happy if a SREF plume threw me a quarter inch

When people say we get our best snows in March i think they are full of BS. Whens the last time there was a widespread March snow from Birmingham to Raleigh ?
Our last one was in 09’ I think..seems like a lifetime ago. We spend the bulk of our March days in the upper 70’s now

People only remember the great winters of the past. 09-10 was the best winter here in the mtns. The winter of 08-09 was terrible.
If I’m remembering that winter of 09-10’ correctly, I can remember driving from Greenville to Banner Elk and there was old snow and ice on the ground for the majority of the ride that had been there for weeks/months. I had been making that trip since I was a kid and can never remember another ride through the mountains like that one.

Nino winters are the best! Look at all our snow!
Couldn’t agree more..nowadays, I’ll take my chances with a DEAD STJ and an active NS..get that vortex to ride in on the heels of a clipper and I’ll take my 2”

I’m torn. I’m definately making the trip to sugar/beech this weekend to ski but I’m not sure which is the better option. Saturday/Sunday night or Friday/Saturday night? I’d hate to miss out on what the NAM is selling but A) I don’t believe it yet b)) I’d rather not waste a night getting rained on.
Im leaning Saturday/Sunday night..thoughts?

Been ripping up here at sugar since lunchtime. Wind gusts are insane. I hear a lot of knocking and whistling outside. It’s s shame it all comes to an end tomorrow. I’m afraid they’re really going to struggle to keep snow on slopes from here on out.
