  1. is Boise really close to first though? I know they were just a couple days away from it
  2. Don didn't Denver have a snowfall a few days after it hit 100 there back in September 2020? I remember that..... Also did either they or Boise set their new record for most 100 degree days in a season this year?
  3. Oh wow was that September the latest record of a 95+ temp? I know they almost hit 100 on 9/11/83, that had to be the latest it ever hit 99, no?
  4. Yeah but I meant that as a general statement how come we don't get 7+ day heatwaves anymore? Even in our intense bouts of heat I notice they dont last more than 5 days at most. I think July 1993 was the last time we had a string of 7+ 90 degree days? Or maybe it was July 1999.
  5. 1983 has to be on this list, it was the Nolan Ryan of summers, it's longevity was simply outstanding.
  6. Did we have that in 1983? No one has given me an explanation of how in the world JFK had 5 days of 90+ in September in 1983 when I could not find another September with more than 2. And the entire summer had been hot too. How does 1983 not come up more often as one of the hottest summers of all time?
  7. What has higher chances of happening, a 90 degree day at either NYC or JFK in September or Gallo hitting above .220 by the end of the season lol.
  8. Yeah but Chris haven't you noticed that we dont get those endlessly long summer heatwaves anymore? I mean 7-10 days or longer.
  9. why must there be a backdoor front at all? I remember when our hot airmasses were much stronger and we'd have 7-10 day heatwaves or even longer. How come we don't have those anymore?
  10. I'm very nervous about plastic bottles not just because of the impact on the environment but also because of plastic microparticles being found in the bloodstream. Dont want that.
  11. Wow that would be fun. I see forecasts have been ticking upwards for Monday, slowly but surely.
  12. I use water filters they work to remove the high metal content crap in my water thats causing my pipes to corrode. The 6 stage filter is right where the water comes inside on the main pipe. Before that the water was so bad that I was replacing my boiler every 5 years because of corrosion. Also water from paper containers is far better than plastic bottles ugh.
  13. it's supposed to rain all day and part of tonight
  14. But we didn't hit 90 last year after August either. I remain highly skeptical of reaching 90 again where I live or for NYC for that matter. EWR and even LGA may do it....I would put EWR at 90% and LGA at 50% while 30% for NYC and 20% for JFK.
  15. Say what? In October 2019 we had two days of 90+? I thought it was just 1?
  16. But if we had 10 inches of rain in 2 hours a lot of basements would be be flooded (including mine, because I've had water in there with less rain than that- fortunately I have a drain in the floor of the basement)
  17. Lol well that might be better use for it than the children who open up the hydrants and dance around them.
  18. They should be desalinating and using the water from the Pacific en masse. Too costly at the level of technology they have right now, I guess. The greatest villains in that formula are the farming and fossil fuel cartels which have exemptions to drill deep into the ground and extract from the water table.
  19. Thanks Will....interesting that most of these were la ninas. To be expected of course since la ninas cool down the majority of the planet.
  20. Imagine if we had gotten the 8-14" of rain that NJ and NYC got with Ida....wow.....it would be like Sandy conditions on Long Island with power outages and long gas lines.
  21. Yeah but bad enough to create a power outage? I don't usually take 20-25 mph gusts too seriously.....we usually need 40 mph sustained winds or 60 mph gusts to cause a power outage here.
  22. Where did this horrible wind come from? I didn't see anyone say prepare for windy conditions. It took my power out!
