I still don’t get how this all works. My entire house with the exception of me ending up catching covid. Spent 3 weeks quarantined with 3 covid positive individuals in “ daily close contact... for hours...” 5 tests over a 16 day period and I still can’t test positive! Doctor sent me for an antibody test figuring I might have been “patient zero” and nope no antibodies. Was told I must have the good “T cells” in me. Hate saying this but I actually was hoping to catch it during our quarantine so I could get it over with and be good until summer time. The uncertainly with all this is the worst part.

Did you guys get any results back yet? I was surprised to get mine back this morning already and was negative. Went to the state site downtown Tuesday afternoon and had it back Thursday morning. But oddly my wife who went to the same site Tuesday morning still has not received any result. We went like right at the earliest possible day threshold, so could have been too soon. Getting tested again tomorrow, see if anything changes. Also a bit odd I still have yet to be contacted by the doh for my daughters positive test on Monday morning.

I’ve been wondering this too. Does the vaccine give you permanent immunity? Look at the flu shot, you need one every year as the dominant strain keeps changing. We’re just passing year one on corona. Isn’t it possible the strain could change just enough to keep circulating and make the vaccine given now have no effect? As far as natural antibodies, I thought they only stay in the body for roughly 6 months. Have heard of people who got in March/April being reinfected in the fall. I know there is talk about the “T cells” (think that’s what there called) remembering the virus code and giving the body a leg up on better fighting the virus, but not the same as having an antibody load already present.

Thanks. She’s doing much better today, fever is gone and she more active. My wife got hit hard today keeps getting waves of full body aches and extreme exhaustion. She takes a nap and wakes up an hour or two later feeling perfectly fine. I am still yet to experience anything I would call a symptom. I’m either about to get hit in the next day or two, asymptomatic, or I already had it and never knew it. Wife and myself both went and got the nasal probe test today.

How have you guys been holding up? Just got the call that my 7 year old has tested positive. She woke up yesterday said she had a headache and felt really cold. She took a midday nap which she never does and woke up with a 101 fever. Went for the rapid test this morning and there it was. Only conflicting thing now is when me and my wife should get tested. My primary told me to wait 3-4 days from when my daughter became symptomatic, as a test to soon may not detect it right away, but my wifes primary said since we all live together she could get a test today and it would be accurate. Confusing.

Good Luck to you and the family. That’s our biggest fear now is someone in the house getting it. The kids are 2 and 7 and with the smaller house and only one bathroom we don’t see how we could isolate properly. Are your kids in school or are you thinking there was a spread at gymnastics? I was surprised when we went orange they allowed the dance places and gym studios to stay open. Keep us updated on how you all are holding up.

HRRR has been dead set all afternoon on a 6”+ hit in central Erie county. The last AFD makes mention that the mesos are probably over doing the precip output, but do agree it will be just cold enough for all snow in the morning... let’s see!

Well some positive news... We are having a record low number of influenza cases this year... Yet Erie County is still far and away the highest concentration...

I love the shit show that is Erie County...

At this point I really don’t know if a full lockdown / shutdown would even make a dent in the spread rates. Majority of spread right now is individuals being irresponsible at home. I felt like back in March during the first shutdown no one really saw anyone outside of their home circle (or work circle for essential workers) and I think that made a world of difference dropping the infection rates. It was a good 6 weeks where everyone just stayed apart and didn’t mingle with other home circles. Fast forward to now and it seems like no one cares anymore. So many people having get togethers in their homes, Halloween parties, football parties, thanksgiving dinner. Might not seem like a big deal but having just 10 people from 3 different households get together is the difference between 2 infected people and 10 infected people. The numbers just grow exponentially from there. If the general population can’t act socially responsible at home we are still weeks away from flattening our curve. There is so much emphasis being put on retail establishments for sanitation protocols, but the spread isn’t happening there. It’s happening at the Sunday dinner table when the kids and grandkids are coming over to visit.

I highly doubt that will sway anyone who supports him. Will be interesting to see how the county responds to him saying he will be open for business as usual tomorrow.

Please explain why the positivity rate would be lower simply because it’s the weekend? You do realize these tests were administered an average of 2-4 days ago and the results are just now being reported by the health department right? Results for the past 7 days...
