  1. Oh yes. Your neck of the woods is going to get buried!
  2. Models are still all over the place with lake response to the arctic air incoming. Safe to say the lake belts are going to get some good snows coming up. Only concern might be that the air is too dry. Ice cover down my way is almost non-existent.
  3. The lake effect potential next week on this side of the lake has my full attention.
  4. At 7:00 AM EST, South Bend [St. Joseph Co, IN] OFFICIAL NWS OBS reports SNOW of 4.10 INCH. SNOW DEPTH 6 INCHES. Some decent drifts out there.
  5. Got an inch in the ground after about two hours of snow. If we can keep this pace up we should get to about 5 inches by 12z.
  6. Light to moderate snow. Hard to argue against the HRRR for the Michiana area at this point. Expecting around 5 inches when I wake up early. Could make a run at 6.5 if snow showers continue Sunday.
  7. Finally starting to get it to snow hard enough to stick. Getting a coating on the cars. That block is no joke.
  8. Just very light snow here. No accumulation.
  9. Seeing the latest hi-res models, I don’t blame NWS for keeping the WSW to my west and south. But as a weenie I could make an argument for including South Bend. SREF mean plume here is over 6 inches. They even have a snowfall map that has South Bend getting 6-8. Either way, it’ll be a fun storm to watch evolve.
  10. I haven’t seen or heard it but apparently there’s some thundersnow to my south!
  11. Mostly graupel here with the recent shower that came through. Local news crew hit a pretty good snow burst in the western part of the county.
  12. IWX has yet to issue a Snow Squall Warning since they were created a couple seasons ago. Thoughts on any of these squalls reaching warning criteria on Friday? That's gonna be about the most fun I think I'll get out of this system.
  13. There should be a pretty excellent, extended lake response with the continued NW flow coming starting next weekend (Knocks on wood).
  14. Ice has been slow to melt here. The snow that fell last night is still on on top of the ice. Pretty remarkable and beautiful. But there’s also plenty of ice on the trees and the wind is starting to blow again. Not real excited for the inch or two of cement coming. I’m afraid we’re going to see outages skyrocket overnight and into the morning.
  15. Just got back in from what will probably be the last heavy snow burst. Will measure again later but I’d guess we got about 8-9 inches. A beautiful sight!
  16. Pumped. Sitting right on the eastern edge of a snow band. 6.75“ so far. Merry Christmas all!
  17. HRRR sticking to a big dog for some lucky few. I’m about 8 miles east if the SBN airport so fingers crossed for me. I’ve got some flakes starting to fly.
