Would make sense. We do September heat well in these parts, and with the low level drought conditions the ground can heat up quickly. The sun doesn't have to work off too much soil moisture.

If you watch the base reflectivity loop out of Wakefield, you can see the front pinching off the NW edge of the precip shield and shoving Idalia out to sea. Pretty neato.

Rather would have the heat now than October. I think it was Oct 2018 where we went upper 90s for days and the trees just gave up and dropped their leaves en mass.

AWOS station KFPY Bucell Junction reported a gust of 85 MPH.

NDBC advised a couple of the C-MAN stations had the anemometers fail as Idalia made landfall.

Perry, FL ASOS gusted to M82 mph. Looks like it might be having power issues. Not sending consistent METARs.
