  1. Was falling & blowing pretty hard around Poplar Grove & Harvard a little bit ago. Started spinning out & thankfully caught myself. Thank god for good brakes on an ‘06 Explorer. If traveling, be safe.
  2. I’m sure the mere idea of busting low by *double* is exciting enough.
  3. Gonna make for a nice slick undercoating for the snow that does fall. Not that you’ll even see it.
  4. I wish I could, but I work 2-10pm. I look forward to catching up on 12 pages like I did last night.
  5. Speaking of…Snow swath on newer HRRRs has slightly gone more NW. 3 inches in ORD at 4am when 12z had under an inch
  6. I think the trolling energy has tampered down. But you asked for it…
  7. At this point, I’d do backflips if I can get 2-4 inches in Poplar Grove. And yes, I know it’s unlikely.
  8. Guys, calm down. The 15z RAP is running! …Hey, get back here, straws!
  9. After being the stubbornly southern-most solution, even the Euro is now trying to make fetch happen with Alek’s 10 inch call.
  10. Everyone just taking a breather? I gots to know the orientation on the 00z Euro!
  11. Dang, well I feel dumb. I don’t remember. I know the LE storm, but I thought that was a 7.8” measurement.
  12. When’s the last time ORD hit double digits on a storm system? Seems like a couple years, at least (and looks to continue after this).
  13. This may have been answered, but when does this thing get on land/which runs will be the first with it on land?
  14. LOT says don’t bank on those fun-looking huge amounts panning out.
  15. Seeing as this is GHD III, this system will surely wind up needing (at least) a third thread.
  16. Snow amounts are 3 inches higher at 9z Wednesday on 0z NAM than they were on the 18z NAM at the same time.
  17. Talk about it, sure. Even go full Mike Caplan & show every weather model’s take. But a map 48 hours out of a complex, huge system? Schwarz & a miss.
  18. ABC7 Chicago put out a map. I would’ve waited a day or so to avoid the “You only said 3-6 inches!” crowd if models keep bringing it north.
  19. Not quite there, but taking the long way there…
  20. “Hey, where are you going?” ”Chicago, there’s a big snowstorm coming!” ”When will you be back?” ”If Ensemble 8 of the GEFS is correct, not for a while.”
  21. The ratios, I assume, will be near 10:1 for the overrunning portion since it’s starting as rain. How are they looking for the main event storm?
