  1. Everyone just taking a breather? I gots to know the orientation on the 00z Euro!
  2. Dang, well I feel dumb. I don’t remember. I know the LE storm, but I thought that was a 7.8” measurement.
  3. When’s the last time ORD hit double digits on a storm system? Seems like a couple years, at least (and looks to continue after this).
  4. This may have been answered, but when does this thing get on land/which runs will be the first with it on land?
  5. LOT says don’t bank on those fun-looking huge amounts panning out.
  6. Seeing as this is GHD III, this system will surely wind up needing (at least) a third thread.
  7. Snow amounts are 3 inches higher at 9z Wednesday on 0z NAM than they were on the 18z NAM at the same time.
  8. Talk about it, sure. Even go full Mike Caplan & show every weather model’s take. But a map 48 hours out of a complex, huge system? Schwarz & a miss.
  9. ABC7 Chicago put out a map. I would’ve waited a day or so to avoid the “You only said 3-6 inches!” crowd if models keep bringing it north.
  10. Not quite there, but taking the long way there…
  11. “Hey, where are you going?” ”Chicago, there’s a big snowstorm coming!” ”When will you be back?” ”If Ensemble 8 of the GEFS is correct, not for a while.”
  12. The ratios, I assume, will be near 10:1 for the overrunning portion since it’s starting as rain. How are they looking for the main event storm?
  13. Here you go, you filthy animals!
  14. Some of the ensembles are painting 3 feet in some spots. 3. FEET.
  15. If the trend keeps going, those oranges will be in N IL by 18z tomorrow.
  16. https://weather.cod.edu/forecast/legacy/ Has multiple models, animated gif capabilities, and you can even look at comparisons between two models.
  17. Almost like joining together to create a United Kingdom of weather models or something…
  18. You know it’s a good looking storm when I’m looking at my area in Boone County having around a foot of snow on the models & thinking, “Man, that could be better.”
  19. As location continues to wobble, these models just continue showing monster totals run after run. That’s the best sign of anything.
  20. Here’s a gif of the GEFS 10:1 Ensembles from 6pm Tuesday to Friday at midnight. If #10 came anywhere close to verifying, nothing’s happening in Chicago for a few days afterward.
  21. Snow evolution of the storm per GFS from Hr84 to Hr138:
