  1. Horst: (Did anyone see it?) In case you missed it, light snow was officially reported at Lancaster airport ~5:30am...a whimpering end to sad winter for snow lovers.
  2. I just want to add to this - there is a fine line between being negative and being realistic. I really hope this makes sense... People have been negative and given up repeatedly this "winter" season for good reason. We were in a horrid pattern for snow. We struggled to get snow in the heart of winter when even when we're in a hostile pattern we often get SOMETHING...but this winter lady luck was missing. Now, if the pattern was ripe for snow and there was very good reasoning to believe it was going to snow based on the pattern, then dismissing snow chances would be not only negative but also stupid. But... That's not what was happening in this thread this winter. People were being realistic - a point that I, and others tried to make over and over again. I'll be honest...when the pattern is as godawful as it's been, I don't give a flying you know what any snow map looks like. Reason why? Well, the ground truth spoke volumes to that. It sort of upset me this winter when I was one that was being labeled as negative. If calling things the way that they really are is being negative, then so be it. But just as someone is foolish for dismissing something in a good pattern, it's just as foolish to keep expecting snow when the pattern is putrid. And now we're in a season where we (S/E of the mountains) need some luck to score. We need something better than what we have now. Bottom line - it's frustrating when you're surrounded by negativity. It kills morale and is generally unhealthy. But negative is NOT always the same as being realistic. And what I saw in this thread this winter was a whole lot of realism. At least from the "negative" people. Let's all keep a good thing going here and work to understand that we're all different but still share the same love. From that we might diverge but that's okay...we can all respect each other and "treat" others respectfully. - MIke
  3. A lawn and garden thread sounds nice. The mid-Atlantic thread has had one for years.
  4. I posted a few times actually. I gave it about as much attention as I honestly felt it warranted. (For our local area) I did say a few days ago in response to a post that Williamsport made that I thought areas in the northern mountains might very well receive a nice snowfall. I am NOT disparaging you or discouraging you from chasing. But please don't get upset at others who aren't.
  5. 3/21 - First yard mowing of the season commences now. Holy crap, i feel like the grass grew 6" in the past 2 days!
  6. I was just going to post the same thing. At least a few inches verbatim.
  7. Welcome to the club! Mine hasn't shut off much today...
  8. 80.4 here. Imagine if we would have had more sun - I never saw any until after 2pm. And yes, Lancaster officially hit 80 as well. This has "felt" like an over-performing kind of day all week to me. Screw the models. (not really)
  9. I had a good 30 minutes of strong winds...it has backed off now to a light breeze.
  10. Anyone else experiencing high winds? The house is shaking - I'm not a good judge of wind speeds but this is exceeding a lot of wind advisories. It is straight out howling here.
  11. Impressive cell about ready to wamboozle @2001kx
  12. In the past hour I've gone from 63 to 77! We can do this!
  13. Sun is just appearing here now. We had a lot more than a sprinkle down this way. I'm not sure we'll see more than a gusty shower at this point.
  14. Speaking of rain, I'm surprised that it's raining now. My prediction of 80 for today is drowning...
  15. "itsrainingtime" is ready for a good soaking Sunday night and Monday.
  16. This. I think as recently as the middle of last week, most of us were certainly aware of what was going on but at the time it seemed more like a nuisance...it was really towards the end of last week that we quickly reached the "oh sh*t" point.
  17. The southern edge of the actual snow shield continues to inch northward just about every model run. In a few days it went from northern MD to now being north of the turnpike.
  18. I'm a blessed man. This week and at least for all of next week I'm working from home. So much appreciate the opportunity to do so.
  19. It could potentially be somewhat more significant than your verbiage suggests, but we'll see.
  20. As Blizz pointed out there are some connections that are better than they have been. However...there's also more than enough that are hostile, and especially given the time of the year...rain or mostly rain has to be favored outside of the higher elevations of northern PA and perhaps the Laurels.
  21. That mauler, shockingly, has already trended just far enough north that instead of me getting several inches of snow, it's now rain. There is no reason why this won't trend farther north in this pattern.
  22. First confirmed PA death from Coronavirus was an adult from Northampton county.
