Lots of great information! My parents used to live in Fairbanks and I was finally able to go see where they lived a few years ago. It is a neat thing to experience - my daughters were riding bikes in the evening sun...at midnight.
That's plenty. I saw a related post you made last week but I didn't get a chance to respond. Summer solstice is one of my favorite days of the year. Love knowing that our official march towards winter has commenced!
Droughts and Covid bouts will cause some to pout.
Anyway, it took some time today but storms are starting to march east through the central and south central mountains. Should be wet in most areas over the next several hours.
Down to 68 with heavy rain and legit close lightning. Solid thundershower here. Wind kind of died with the arrival of the rain. Close to .4" here so far.
Yeah...I see that.
Really, I want rain for heat relief. My yard is still green but I realize that it can dry quickly these days. My heat index is 102 and I'm waving the flag of surrender now.
Got home a few hours ago and after driving through on and off downpours most of the way up, nada here at the homestead. Hopefully we get some rain soon.
Currently at the VA/MD border on Rt. 13 north. Keep the rain away until I get home. Thanks. Already had a hair raising drive across the Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel in a storm earlier.
And I'm bald.
Absolutely perfect day here on Hatteras. Water remains everywhere after 9.11" at the station closest to me. Nearly 6" fell yesterday.
Today is sunny, breezy and gorgeous.
Pretty cool satellite image of the cloud bank right at the M/D line.
With all of the rain we've had down here we're just now getting our first Thunderstorm of the event. So far we've had about 4" of rain but 4-6" is predicted over the next 24 hours.
The GFS is a southern-based model. Didn't you realize that? It was consistently showing a few inches of rain last week for down here and we're going to at least double that.
Having a great time despite the weather. This place is special in a lot of ways and to be here during nasty weather is honestly very cool. The rain certainly overperformed yesterday but hasn't been too bad today.
As for the beer - my wife is winning that competition with ease.
Have a great week everyone. For those worrying about dry conditions up home...I'll do my best to send a little wetness your way. There's more than enough to go around...
