  1. RECORD SNOW | Third Snowiest 'One Day' In Greensboro History https://t.co/HNQVnezVnH https://t.co/bInPZt3U2c
  2. The 7” of snow @RDUAirport ties for the 3rd most snow in a December day on record! It also guarantees RDU will at least have normal average snowfall this season. #NCsnowchat #ABC11
  3. Even southern Piedmont NC places like Wadesboro and Rockingham get in on the snowmegeddon action here!
  4. also, Fishel and WRAL seem to often speak as if their entire audience lives in Wake County and Raleigh. The microclimates of Chapel Hill, Durham, and Person County often are a total different world during winter events.
  5. Thanks for giving perspective, Don.
  6. Yep, one of the reasons yo savor early December snowfalls.
  7. I’ve never seen anything like this.
  8. Tim Buckley: For those asking, the ground temperature in Greensboro is 41°. It will be a non-factor this weekend.
  9. Yep, the models almost all agree with every run that the Triad and Northwest NC will have a major winter event.
  10. It often works for northwestern North Carolina, the Triad, and southern/central Virginia.
  11. Elizabeth, I’m coming to join ya!
  12. Models aren't just depicting a HECS for Carolinas/Virginia; this is bordering on a BECS!
  13. Michael Ventrice‏Verified account @MJVentrice 29m29 minutes ago The stage appears to be setting for a classic mid-Atlantic snowstorm later this weekend. A developing southern stream low-pressure system blocked by a NE High Pressure system, which keeps cold air locked over WV, VA, NC. We are looking at potential for 1-2ft of snow in NC-VA.
  14. Allan Huffman‏ @RaleighWx 26m26 minutes ago Just the 12z GFS, so just a model run assuming 10:1 ratio, not factoring out sleet/freezing rain, which looks to only be an issue on the eastern side of the heavier totals on this map. But here it is. No this is not my forecast, just the 12z GFS. Look at the sharp gradient.
  15. Keep in mind, Durham and Chapel Hill/Hillsborough often do quite well with snowfall while Raleigh is blanked. It's happened a lot in these setups.
  16. Yes, the rain this weekend in NoVA was unreal, waves of torrential downpours day and night. Parts of Alexandria alread inundated by the Potomac.
  17. Is DC/NoVA not a good place to evacute to?
  18. Winston-Salem and the Triad have done very well relative to climatology in snow this decade. It is the Loudoun County of the NC Piedmont.
