  1. WOW, I know it hasn’t been the warmest spring but it hasn’t been downright cold. That’s incredible to still have any kind of snow on the ground for this long. That’s gotta be some kind of record for them.
  2. 3k with over 4 inches right over my head. I’ll take the under on that lol.
  3. Sorry to hear about your cottage. Has there been any damage to it when the winds/waves pick up? That is one of my favorite areas I’ve ever been and I’ve been to nearly every state in the country but for some reason I find the 1000 Islands region of Upstate NY one of the most naturally beautiful areas. I used to vacation every year in Clayton, NY but haven’t been in about 5 years. This is weather is just dismal. Don’t get me wrong I’m glad it’s not 85-90+ everyday with high humidity because that gets old quick especially when working outdoors, but this constant cloud cover, cool temps, and rain is just awful. We’re only 1 week from the solstice and it’s only 55 degrees at noon with a “heavy mist” falling, this after over 1.5” of rain fell yesterday evening and overnight. Yard is a pond, saw numerous creeks at or over bank full while driving to work this morning. Give me some 70s and sunshine for more than a day or two and I’d be thrilled because this is just unreal how persistent this pattern is. We’ve only had 3 days of 80+ this year with none on the horizon in at least the next 10 days. With all the cold temperatures and rain we’ve gotten with possibly several more inches possible at the end of the week as mentioned in the latest HWO by the NWS, I’m not sure if anyone will be swimming in their pools until after the 4th if they’re lucky! Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!
  4. It was the 12th snowiest not the 8th, albeit still impressive. However, most of this snow (over 60", which is over 50% of the seasonal total of 118.7" ) came in a 3 week period in January. There were frequent thaws throughout the winter and even if they were short lived they were enough to keep us from building an impressive pack. Even during the 60"+ in 3 weeks there was never more than 20" on the ground due to the thaws in between shots of lake effect. Don't get me wrong, we could have, and have done much worse than last winter but I think for "one of the snowiest winters" in Buffalo's history, it sure didn't feel all that snowy.
  5. That’s 16 degrees below average, same departure as of it were 88 on Monday. 56 is just about our average low this time of year.
  6. A lot warmer then forecasted here today. Sun is shining strongly, with a temp of 84 and a dew of 69. Feels downright sultry out. Would not be surprised if the storms later are strong cause this is a juicy airmass.
  7. Started the new smoker up at 4 AM this morning. Doing my first brisket I’ve ever done today and having about 15 people over to hopefully enjoy it this afternoon. About 6:30 am this morning it started pouring rain for about 10 minutes while the sun was still completely shining. Checked radar and there was about a mile and a half wide cell of 50+ dbz returns smack dab over my house.
  8. It's been since 2003 that we haven't hit 80 degrees by now. That year we didn't hit it until June 17th which is incredible to think about. Don't think we'll go that long this year but if we don't hit 80 Sunday (I could see KBUF topping out at 79 with a SW breeze) it may well take until June before we see it finally happen.
  9. Anyone know what is causing the returns to look like that over Washington County, RI?
  10. 122kt at the surface in the SW eyewall on the latest dropsonde.
  11. oh dude I can't tell you how pumped I am. First Nor Easter ever and I'm sure this will more than make up for the crappy 4" of snow I have received all season before this. I am fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to have the next 15 days off due to an injury so I'll be able to sit here and take it all in (of course I'm gonna take a drive to watch hill and try to experience some close to hurricane force gust!?) ... Can't even begin to explain how excited and pumped I am, more than I've ever been for any lake effect event in Buffalo ever. What are your thoughts for this area? I'm hoping for 18"+ but would consider anything over 12" a score for sure. It's the combined effects of this storm that's got me pumped more so than the totals as I know I'm not gonna jackpot, and to me and it really doesn't matter because this is just gonna be an epic storm as a whole. Winds here? Think we'll gust above 60? Well good luck everyone and so sorry to the NYC folks that are probably one east Euro run away from a toaster bath. To everyone that's lucky enough to experience this storm, appreciate it, enjoy it, and stay safe!
  12. The worst winter in history. RIH (rest in hell) winter of 11-12

  14. After another snowstorm that wasn't when will we get our first big snow? Friday night maybe we could see a few inches from a clipper then maybe some real LES next week with the first real arctic blast? Let's hope.
