  1. Head just north of Salamanca. If your still near Springville you can definitely make it in time on 219. Question is does the storm hold together long enough?
  2. Tornado Warning near Silver Creek. Velocity scan looks pretty impressive, wouldn’t doubt there’s a tornado OTG!
  3. Yep this ones done for. Nothing more than some steady rain today with an occasional clap of thunder and lightning. Not enough time to break into any sunshine to destabilize the atmosphere. Oh well at least we’re getting some rain.
  4. I think that’s all there was July 2017 when the Hamburg/OP tornado hit, along with one in Holland and one in Allegany Co.
  5. Yup another stretch of upper 80s low 90d end of this week into next weekend!
  6. If they don’t extend the extra federal UI benefits the economy is gonna go into a total collapse like many thought it was going to when Covid started. Like you said I’m not saying continue the extra $600 a week because that’s a lot of money and a lot of people are making more on unemployment then they were working but they need to do something or many will fall quickly into poverty. The National average UI income without the added federal benefits is only $400 a week. Not many people can live on that and have money to still pump into the economy like they can when they are getting an extra $2400+ a month. Doesn’t matter to me as i am luckily headed back to work in August but for those who aren’t as lucky losing the extra $600 a week completely will be quite devastating.
  7. 2.13” here. Very hit and miss on the downpours. Had a nice cell sit over my house for almost 45 min while 2 miles away was barely a sprinkle. Airport only got 1.21”. I swear I could watch the grass grow and everyone’s lawns green up right before my eyes this evening, it’s insane lol.
  8. I think there’s no chance NYC schools open in fall and I think there’s a slim chance WNY/Capital Region has schools open. The rest of upstate regions I think are a 50/50 toss up. Cuomo will announce his plans for reopening or not reopening certain regions for schools between August 1-7
  9. We officially hit 97 today! You guys were spot on. Crazy. 98 and 97 back to back days is incredible. By far and away the most impressive heatwave I’ve ever experienced and one that will likely stand as the most impressive for at least another generation.
  10. I see 95 on that lol but Touché to you guys. Didn’t think we’d make it there with the mostly cloudy skies but it has cleared out somewhat and temps are sky rocketing.
  11. Mostly cloudy skies here and 93. If we can clear out I can see 95 but I really don’t see us going above that today. Too much cloud debris moving in from TS Fay and storms firing up out over Ontario. Hope you prove me wrong as the record is 95 today and would love to break it again on the final day of this heatwave!
  12. I don’t think we get above 94 today. Higher DPs will make it harder for the temp to climb as high as it did yesterday.
  13. Since there’s a late night/early morning party going on and I can’t sleep after both kids have been up all night I’ll chime in haha. disappointed that we only got 0.02” of liquid here. also at least according to the GFS next weeks heat looks less impressive and more bearable. Looks like upper 80s/low 90s which is still hot and well above normal just not seeing the “hotter than this current heatwave” heat anymore. Anyone have the Euro?
  14. Yes I do. KNYBUFFA240. I have an ambient weather station. Not a top of the line Davis but overall a solid weather station I really like and find to be really accurate. When I had the time to compare the rainfall in the weather station to my cylindrical tube rain gauge from Cocorahs it was always almost dead on. I also find the temperature readings are always within a degree or so of the surrounding stations and there are a lot of them. It’s super easy to set up and connect to Wunderground so I can see the weather at my house from anywhere. Also for less than $200 you really can’t beat it at all compared to $700-1000+ for a Davis.
  15. Looks like they’re firing up just west and just south of you, that one that just fired up over Blasdell should give you a nice soaking soon. I think I’m going to be just too far N and E here to get anything but can even see the lightning from here in Amherst.
  16. Just about the hottest I’ve ever felt. Wasn’t excessively humid so I have felt days close to or similar in feel due to some times we hit 92-94 but had dews in 70s vs hitting 98 with dews in low 60s. I think it’s legit for sure as numerous PWS around the airport were at least that hot if not hotter. Numerous PWS over 100. I was driving around from 330-630 and the thermometer was fluctuating between 96-101 the entire time and was hottest in between Union and Transit at 101 which isn’t far from the airport. I’m obviously not guaranteeing it’s spot on but I don’t see any reason to discredit it although it is definitely surprising that we have been the hotspot.
  17. 99 on my PWS (radiated) in the shade. Gonna be close if I hit 100 but I think I’ll come up just short.
  18. 97 on my radiated thermometer in the SHADE. Car thermometer says 108 sitting in the sun lmao. Insane heat.
  19. 90 at BUF at 10:54 am. Insane. Should have no problem hitting 95+ today.
  20. Same 83 here already with 71 degree dew point. My grass hasn’t grown in at least 4-5 days no joke. That’s the one good thing to come out of this no rain and heat lol, I haven’t cut my grass in 2 weeks and it looks like I cut it 4-5 days ago. It’s moderately long which is perfect to survive this heatwave because if I had cut it down before it would be dead And brown like 90 percent of the neighborhood around here. I have one of the greenest lawns in the neighborhood and I don’t ever water it, I just don’t cut it very short when I cut it and when I know it’s going to be hot like it is now I leave it even if it grows long like a hay field like yours lol.
  21. Tuesday the 7th when we hit 94 winds were SW all day too. Just seems crazy. Wondering if the next heatwave will be the same or not. Tomorrow is forecasted SW winds too from the NWS. I think your right though with how weak the winds are. Thursday A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4pm. Sunny and hot, with a high near 96. Heat index values as high as 100. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. 07 15:54 SW 10 10.00 A Few Clouds FEW065 FEW270 93 56 29%
  22. Thurs 96 heat index max 102 Fri 93 heat index max 99 Any guesses as to why the lake seems to not be having much of an impact this heatwave on BUF? Even when winds have been SW right off the lake we’ve still been hitting 92-94 everyday. What’s gonna make this next heatwave any different and keep us from hitting upper 90s to 100 even at KBUF if the synoptic setup and 850s are even more impressive then this current heatwave?
  23. Unfortunately not over here. We’ve been getting daily calls from our electrical provider asking us to conserve usage between 10am and 10pm and their system is already taxed. Lost power the last 2 days. Other day was for 10 hours and luckily yesterday was only 4 hours. With all the people still quarantining or working from home there is more people cranking A/C all day long as well as more pool pumps being run as more people are home to use their pools. If this comes to fruition I bet at least around here there will be many more outages.
  24. I don’t think I have ever seen a 600dm ridge forecasted in my lifetime. That’s absolutely insane.
