  1. I don’t think it makes it above a low end cat 2 if that. There’s a ton of dry air all around it and as you said some pretty strong SW shear keeping everything from wrapping around the center symmetrically. The eyewall keeps going back and forth between open and closed and until it can close permanently and convection can sustain and expand around it (which is hard to do with the strong shear) it’s not going to strengthen much. I think it’s best chance to strengthen is actually in between Florida and the Carolinas if it can avoid riding inland along Florida. SST are just as warm there as near the Bahamas but shear will decrease and as it approaches NC or so it will begin interacting the the trough to the west and the SW flow from the low level jet will likely enhance the winds as it gets picked up and scooted very quickly through the Mid Atlantic into New England.
  2. I have mine mounted on a pole in the middle of my yard 6 feet above the ground. Might not be where your supposed to put it but I haven’t had time to go up on the roof and mount it at my new house since I moved from West Seneca in December. I find my readings are still within a degree for temp and dew point for surrounding stations. Wind data does seem to be compromised though and I think our house as well as surrounding houses definitely do block some of the wind as even in high wind warning criteria winds I can never get a gust to measure above 30-35mph but I’m not really concerned with that aspect for the most part.
  3. Yep same one I got. I love it and haven't had any issues in the 3 years I’ve had it. For the price you can’t beat it.
  4. Tell your dads tenants to apply to this. They need to do it by the end of the day tomorrow though. But seems like a great program that would keep them from getting evicted and also help your dad out tremendously considering they would back pay rent all the way to March 1 https://hcr.ny.gov/RRP Here’s the program overview. . The COVID Rent Relief Program will provide eligible households with a one-time rental subsidy that will be sent directly to the household’s landlord. Applicants will not need to repay this assistance. The Covid Rent Relief Program is not first come, first served. Applications will be accepted throughout the two-week application period. HCR will prioritize eligible households with “greatest economic and social need” accounting for income, rent burden, percent of income lost and risk of homelessness. The rental assistance payment will cover the difference between the household’s rent burden on March 1, 2020 and the increase in rent burden for the months the households is applying for assistance. Households can apply for up to four months in rental assistance.
  5. What does any of that have to do with Covid? Or am I missing something?
  6. Love lake effect season! Even lake effect rain. Just so fascinating seeing such mesoscale events produced purely from the bodies of water to our west! I can remember a lake effect rain event about 8-10 years ago that rained 3-4 inches of rain over the metro area in a few hours and it was just fascinating to see with lots of urban flooding.
  7. Let’s set the over under on 20” for the season since it’s 2020 and we’ll likely have the worst winter in Buffalo history and it won’t even be close haha.
  8. Spotter reporting 6.5” just E of Medina. Insanity for around here especially all within 5 hours.
  9. Sunshine has broken out here albeit still hazey. About the most humid I have ever felt in my life here. 82 degrees and a 78 degree dew point. Literally instant sweat when walking outside.
  10. Made landfall just shy of cat 2 but impressive surge all across the barrier islands and numerous reports of gusts 100-110+ mph on the coast. Pretty crazy for a TD 36 hours ago. If this thing had another 24 hours I think we would have had a major on our hands no doubt.
  11. They’re known for giving false hope. They told my uncle numerous times the chemo was working and had a very very low chance back only for it to come back time and time again. I know hope is important but so is being realistic so you don’t get even more hurt god forbid something bad does happen. They also told my fiancé’s grandmother (10 years ago) that she would be good to go and kept telling her husband that everything was going great even a few days before she passed away when it clearly wasn’t.
  12. My uncle has been undergoing treatment there for almost 4 years for throat cancer. They’ve done an absolutely awful job. He’s gone chemotherapy numerous times and it’s been unsuccessful which not the part the makes them awful. What makes them awful is he then developed a condition in his jaw where the bone deteriorated due to the repeated treatments to the point he can no longer eat and has to eat through a feeding tube. He also can barely talk now. He had reconstructive facial surgery in December there to fix his jawbone by taking bone from his leg so he could eat and talk again. The doctors told him by April he would at least be eating things like cookies, crackers, ect... here it is August and he can still barely swallow water, can not eat anything what so ever, still can barely talk and when he does he’s in excruciating pain. He now wishes he never even got the surgery done as he’s in worse shape then before the surgery and now his face is all cut up and scarred. It’s crazy how many bad things I’ve heard about them from people I know and yet they’re supposedly one of the top cancer centers in the country... something doesn’t add up to me.
  13. Would this also be the all time warmest month on record for Buffalo ? Or is there an August that averaged above 76.2?
  14. NWS just tweeted this. Tired of the heat yet?? Well, taking a look at the Climate Prediction Center's longer range outlook for the last week of July into the start of August, appears no relief from the heat coming anytime soon. Do you like the heat we've been experiencing, or prefer it a bit cooler?
  15. Already done here. Picked up a lousy 0.11” and a couple rumbles of thunder.
  16. No STW and lost almost all of its lightning, an indicator that this thing is weakening. 50 miles ago there was a significant amount of lightning. Has a nice linear shape to it but velocity shoes no winds above 40mph. I’ll gladly take the rain but a little bit of a letdown from a severe perspective.
  17. Bingo. Still a decent line but well below Severe status. Special Weather Statement w/ gust to 40mph. SW flow does a number in these things 9/10 times. Only exception really is elevated convection.
  18. Yeah no drought cancel here. 0.65” here all of which has evaporated already. Ground still rock hard here. Over 6” though in Cattaraugus County which is nuts!
  19. Still a delta Velocity of 90mph. Nice looking couplet still. Taking a jog wide right of Salamanca proper. Looks like it’s crossing over 86 now heading into Allegany State Park. Campers better lookout!

  22. Awesome video of a Tornado on ground over Collins from earlier on channel 2 just now! They must have been within 100 yards of the thing.
  23. Yes reports of Tornado on Ground in Randolph. Think this thing is gonna go just south of Ellicottville.
  24. Cell over Randolph has very nice couplet. Delta velocities approaching 100mph ...
  25. Velocities show some 55-60mph velocities but more straight line and less delta velocities.
