  1. Yeah, I figured I will get a winter under my belt and then see if I can tackle it myself. I just have no basis for what to expect this winter.
  2. They said they are there every day in some patterns. I guess if I leave to much snow the lower layer freezes solid and slick and becomes really hard to remove.
  3. We have a hot water fuel oil boiler system. Hopefully it will be decently efficient, but yeah we are expecting a big bill.
  4. Yeah, he said that he tries to maneuver the snow and stay on top of it so that doesn't happen. Apparently they did need to bring in front loaders a few times in the past when they had nowhere else to put the snow. We will see how it goes this winter, obviously I have never dealt with anything remotely like this.
  5. About $80 a plow is what the guy says he charges. I have no way to know if that is a good price or not... It's a solid quarter mile of driveway with a loop and a big open area that needs to be cleared. Seemed reasonable.
  6. Yeah, 81 inches in February, but then March crapped the bed with "only" 17.
  7. From 2/25/10-2/28/10, Randolph recorded 57.1" of snow. LOL
  8. The CoCoRaHS site in my sig averaged 185" over the past 10 years.
  9. Oh yeah, that’s where the snow snobs in the DC/BAL corridor live. Lording their 35 inch averages over the rest of us!
  10. Imagine being a snow weenie who just bought a house at 1,500 ft on Dalton Ridge and you log in here to see @ORH_wxman calling it a total pit. haha
  11. @ORH_wxman saved me from buying 30 acres in the middle of the woods in Whitefield. Dodged a bullet there as a snow weenie. I would have been sick reading this forum.
  12. It would certainly be a gut punch for us snow weenies. For 99% of people, it would be fine. LOL
  13. Looks like it is around 1400 ft or so if it’s on Dalton Ridge. Good view if you can avoid the snow hole for sure.
  14. Everyone shifted south in terms of climo. DCA is RIC. RIC is RDU. BWI is DCA. RDU is ATL. Adjust accordingly.
  15. The local guy up here who works on my house said that the Town and Country Inn in Shelburne is your best bet. That endorsement may be a bad thing or a good thing. There are some really rustic folks up here and standards may be different... I stayed at Carlsons Lodge in Carroll about 15 years ago. It was fine but can’t speak to quality now. It looks well kept from the outside.
  16. No expiration date, but the fine print says you need to bring a HECS of equal or greater value with you for your stay.
  17. 240 inches in Randolph that winter. I will accept that.
  18. I would move to the high desert, for sure. My wife and I dreamed of a house in the high terrain of New Mexico, but the notion of having to fly there every time turned us off. I love the dry climate. California? No way.
  19. I decided instead of getting mad I'd just leapfrog the issue altogether.
  20. I'm thinking I should root for a dominant northern stream parade of clippers.
  21. I was actually wondering what you'd think about that. I had figured the Muslim community would be a little ticked off since I have heard it paints them in somewhat of a bad light (in addition to the other massive issues with the movie).
  22. I guess we know where @UMB WX stands on Epstein's rape island... gross.
