  1. Some stray flurries around here. The peaks across the way are becoming obscured. Usually the first sign precip is just starting to approach.
  2. It was the best event since 2016 for me. 40 mph gusts and cold powder all day with temps in the mid 20s. Can't beat it. WWA for 3-5 more tonight.
  3. 44.5 mph peak gust according to the PWS.
  4. We had one last little burst and now things have tapered off to flurries and blowing snow. I can even see some glimpses of the peaks of Madison and Adams. Awaiting round 2!
  5. This could have easily been the best event of a winter down there.
  6. I measured in a bunch of different spots. Most readings between 1.5 and 2. Probably somewhere in that range just with the ruler check. It feels like a lot more because it is laying everywhere and drifting. I am not used to an inch or two of snow covering so well. Usually in MD we waste a couple inches on a slush “base” before the snow really piles up. I drove around the corner to where the observer lives. Didn’t look any different there (as expected given it’s well below freezing). I am interested in what he reports with more diligent measuring avoiding compaction. My snow reports are of course mostly just a guess. I am not scientific about it at all.
  7. 23 degrees with light to moderate snow now. It’s awesome.
  8. Excited to see how I do. This event already exceeded my expectations and it appears there is more to come.
  9. LOL trust me I will take this any day.
  10. I think he looks like a bit of a judgmental snowman. Not too impressed yet based on that sneer. Best we could do with some mulch.
  11. One thing upslope is not too good for is making snowmen and snowballs. Baltimore cement has it beat in that department. That stuff sticks like glue.
  12. The windblown snow is absolutely nuts across my field. I will need to go down into the woods later to see how deep the snow is in there.
  13. As expected, just down the hill in Gorham is a light mix, just mulch whitening kind of deal. Moderate snow returned here. Mountains gone again.
  14. Back down to light snow now. Mountains coming into view.
  15. The blowing snow and consistency of the snow rivals any HECS from my area in MD that I have ever experienced. And not even a WWA. LOL
  16. Temp down to 26 as well. Pretty crazy.
  17. I'm glad I have a really diligent CoCoRaHS observer up the street. I don't have the patience or interest to be super accurate with measuring when it's blowing all around.
  18. Getting smoked here today. https://video.nest.com/live/URwoSmP3dg
  19. No clue how you'd measure this. It's blowing all over the place on the south facing side with the field. Some spots are bare and other protected spots have two inches piled up. I am guessing there is an inch and a half out there all things considered.
  20. Really getting blasted here right now. It's great.
