  1. Had a small storm pop up over the house in north baltimore city. so at least will salvage a little moisture.
  2. there were posts on it in the disc/obs thread from a few over that way
  3. outside the stadium - but there was real confusion in the stadium as the shots were clear and hard to tell where they were coming from
  4. So sorry, map. Will hold a thought for you and your family.
  5. Went for a walk w/ the pup at Quiet Waters to the dog beach - got there at 8: 30 am - already 86. Got home back here in Baltimore a bit ago and was at 92. Really, not great. Immediately soaked from the wet air.
  6. Much appreciated! That's promising. Ideally, I will be looking for a rental when the time comes, but perhaps the right opportunity would pique an interest to buy again.
  7. I am not early retirement fancy like H20, but with the second child starting his second year at college, the better half and I are musing about down-sizing. Probably with an eye toward selling next spring. Not sure I want to buy again around here at our age (cough50cough) when we will want to eventually retire and live elsewhere. But that means maybe the freedom to rent for awhile, which brings me to this - anecdotally (and acknowledging that it is next year I am musing about) - anyone up in the Carroll County/Balt County/Harford County areas got an idea what the home rental markets/availabilities are like in general up that way? My wife teaches currently in a Balt County independent school so moving north in search of a little cooler temps and better snow chance is a thing I can dream on a bit while we figure out the longer range gameplan for retirement years.
  8. It's an unfortunate rinse and repeat cycle. Given the humidity, almost literally on the rinse part.
  9. Steady rain made it to Baltimore City. Wasn't sure it would. Calling this a win - looks like maybe a few hours of this.
  10. Bet she doesn’t get run over in the parking lot…
  11. It's similar, as I am hoping for a deluge in this case (as I hope for snow in the winter) so I can mutter under my breath "suck it Weather Will and your maps of sadness"
  12. I confess to being a snow watcher no longer as hung up on enso state as I used to be for snow around here.
  13. h20 should be estopped from posting such pics in the future as he is old now and has to eat early bird and make it mostly soft foods - porridges and the like. Maybe mashed potatos.
  14. I was meeting a friend at the former Greene Turtle (now the Backyard or something like that) in towson when that storm hit here - we were on the fourth floor deck - absolute show . Terrifying cloud to ground lightning and torrential rain and wind. As legit a storm as I have seen here in awhile.
  15. Sounds like it might get you out of pool timer duty though? So...
  16. Not sure. The God of War and Vengeance might know.
  17. Just got back from the 10 days in northern Michigan. If you are ever looking for a quiet out of the way vacation -- I cannot recommend Beaver Island highly enough. Especially ESPECIALLY if you have dogs who like the water. Island is 30 miles NW of Charlevoix, Michigan in the middle of Lake Michigan. Reachable by ferry or a short plane flight. We went by ferry so we could get the car over there. 13 miles long, most of the shoreline was white sand beach. Almost all of it accessible to the public and walkable. Could have the dog off leash almost everywhere without a second thought. Just 600 residents on the island year round - but still several restaurants and pubs including a brewery. And a good grocery. It was heaven. Just seven days of reading, hiking, and staring at the water from the beach. Temps ranged from 65-74 during the day and 52-60 at night. Was almost cool - felt guilty about that given that the pacific NW was boiling at the time as were folks here. And oh my word, if you like star gazing, the island is extraordinary for that. We kayaked in the bays in Lake Michigan. Could have rented boats/jet skis. A TON of fishing (inland lakes and out on Lake Michigan) if that's your jam. It was insanely perfect. https://www.beaverisland.org/ Thus endeth my unsolicited interlude about Beaver Island. But, seriously, it was fantastic. ( I would inflict a few pics on you but no matter what I do - they post sideways)
  18. Had about 30 hours of rain here for the first part of the trip/ arrival at the island mentioned in my previous post. Slipped through southern lower Michigan Friday as all hell was starting to break loose there on radar. Saw on Saturday that Detroit had about six inches of rain Friday night and there were estimates of about 1000 cars caught in significant urban flooding - and a lot of those on the various interstates under overpasses especially where no one had seen high water before. I really think that the aspect of global climate change that we are feeling first is these unreal rain events surrounding stalled fronts and waves of moisture along the lows. Issue in Michigan was they were caught between that brutal high in the pacific NW and a high anchored over the weekend off the east coast. Funneled a lot of moisture up this way.
