  1. Crazy temp jump today. 41 to 58 in just an hour and 15 minutes. Any size to the specks?
  2. That's perfect for us coastal guys. We have plenty of room for nw shifts lol
  3. Models are struggling inside 7 days now so I look at nothing they say as credible beyond that and take anything inside 7 days with the biggest grain of salt possible.
  4. Its winter in the southeast. Yeah we do occasionally get snowstorms but not regularly. Anyone from rdu tonthe west can save their tears. They had an epic storm already. I had 4 inches in that one with huge raging flakes when I was expecting an hour or two of light snow before the switch. Sit back and see how this all unfolds. Almost everyone is already above average for the year....how much can we complain about that?
  5. Us coastal guys need to see some big totals we need that another 50 to 100 miles EAST. This thing is an eternity in the modeling world away so no op run is worth getting worked up over.
  6. Wouldn't it be nice if that euro run was truth. As we all know 200 hrs out is an eternity and really just nothing but fantasy. We would need 5 days of consistency on run to runs before we get into a decent time frame to really start talking about this potential. Sucks to see such outputs when you know it's not likely to be close to that at all.
  7. Still would like to see the euro and fv3 to improve at 12z.
  8. No real support from the fv3 or euro though so count me as skeptical based off the 6z gfs being the only one with it.
  9. No way it happens but the gfs is trying to pull through for us 4 yrs in a row.
  10. Well it snowed the day me and my wife went to the hospital to induce her labor for my son to be born. Both his 1st and 2nd birthday parties were affected by snowstorms and had to be moved up a day early and his 3rd birthday is Jan 5th. If the trend keeps up then we should see some snow that weekend. Totally non-scientific but hey a trend is a trend!
  11. The changeover happened very quick over in Pitt County it literally took for 5 minutes for it to go from snow to rain
  12. So as this storm ends for me it is with great joy I get to tell a small story. As a kid growing up in eastern NC lots of times we had overnight snow forecast and woke up to nothing but rain. It happened a lot and I was always disappointed. This morning my 2 yr old woke up and found himself surrounded by 3 inches of fresh snow........that makes this a great little storm for us folks east of 95 who weren't expecting much.
  13. Yeah its gonna take heavy rates to switch us back if it's even possible to go back to snow now. Certainly happy with my 2.5 inches of snow. Very impressive band we were in for a storm that really was borderline for us.
  14. I'm luckier than you there. I am going to just plain rain.
  15. Yeah it certainly outperformed the nam and rgem with temps for sure. Even the fv3 had us for higher totals of course it was way overdone as it was calling for 6 to 8 inches. Now we see what that transition line does for you guys.....hope it holds off for a while.
  16. I just switched over to mostly rain as that CC line ran north. Hrrr says it drops south again but doubt that happens. Was a blast while it lasted.
  17. Same here I just measured 2 and a quarter on an elevated metal staircase. Never expected the flake size, duration and just heavy banding to setup over me. In fact I drove my wife's car to work instead of my truck because i never expected snow covered roads.
  18. moving back north again and is within 10-15 miles of me now
  19. Looking at the CC loop above you can see that snow crash back south over the coastal plains. Hope that stays that way and that the colder air is more entrenched and you guys out west can avoid too many mixing issues.
  20. Still all snow here in pitt county. Hope this stays snow a little longer for all of us. It's been impressive so far as far as flake sizes and rates.
  21. conditions under that band are far better than I was hoping for. Like i've said not my storm I was only forecast for 1 to 2 inches I just wanted to see some heavy snow and I've got my wish.
  22. officially have a dusting on the ground now and its just dumping big fat flakes right now.
  23. Yeah the Fv3 stunk it up on totals with this storm. Gonna be hard to trust it in the future.
  24. Really snowing good here in Greenville. Just took a video and I'm uploading it to youtube. Not what you guys out west are getting but I have big flakes and lots of em.
