Funny I hit home depot this morning to get more charcoal, a new grill grate, couple more extension cords and a gas can. They still had about 8 generators and no real sense of urgency there. It was early (8 am) but I figured there would be more concern. I swung by Target afterwards to get some more water and a few essentials just to beat the rush and...there wasnt one. Maybe it will change tomorrow but as of this morning all quiet.
I went to Lowes to see what generators they had and all they had was 1 type at $750 so I left. I don't need nor want a 200lb generator. The store was packed and I have heard that our local Walmarts were selling water like there was no tomorrow. People are actually scared of this one and several people on my street are already planning on leaving. I am staying put, hard to find a hotel that will allow 3 dogs with 2 of them being large.

So the main thread needs a mod or two badly....time to go scorched earth over there......
GFS smokin crack crazy loop and dumps a insane amount of rain.....that plus the constant onshore flow would back the rivers up with surge and just make this friggen terrible....good thing this is a pretty unlikely scenario...at least the OBX wouldnt need to worry about flooding from the 3 ft of rain they get since surge would already be taking care of the flooding....
That is just unreal. 35.3" for me and almost 50" for Hatteras!! That model also has it hanging around as a cat 4 for 3 to 4 days. Very unlikely.

Sucked a trace out of the clouds yesterday evening. Sprinkled for almost 30 seconds. Counted 42 raindrops on the trash can lid.
17 days - no measurable rain. Haven't had to mow this week because the grass stopped growing.
We are in the same boat. Have had only .10" since Aug 24. Hope to get some rain the next few days. Currently 86/77.

She is weakening, which means a better chance of heading more westward. The models are now showing it heading further west before turning north. The Euro, ICON, and CMC all show it hitting NC. Right now I would not bet it heading out to sea and not hitting the east coast.
Also, it's dead in here.
Wait till next week, it'll pick up big time if she comes close to us.

Why not just live above 4000ft in nc?
Both sides of the family tried to convince her that but she likes living far away from everyone for some odd reason. All relatives are here in NC.

My stepdaughter just moved up to Watertown NY cause she hates heat and humidity so much and now she is complaining that it is too hot and humid up there. It's been in the mid to upper 80's there recently. They have no A/C.

Another dry, hot, and humid September day here. Currently 90/77.

When you find it, please livestream it and follow it every inch of the way to the triad. I may just lie in my weed lawn and sob quietly come saturday morning. I am soooo done with this summer.
You will get it way before I do. I am with you on this summer weather.

Welcome. I don't buy the GFS. Not because it stalls it out but because it stalls it out and actually strengthens it to a cat 5 while sitting there. No way can those waters maintain that strong of a storm with all the upwelling and land interaction that would happen with a big and strong storm.
