We have had some pretty substantial gusts here within the past 30 minutes. Power went out for about a minute but now back on. Wind is howling. Airport recording gusts in the high 40's. Pressure down to 29.39.

Sounds about right. When the center passed over me earlier this afternoon my barometer dropped to 29.21.
I am at 29.40 right now near New Bern. Interestingly, with Florence it dropped to 29.38.

Winds have been in the 20-30 mph range most of the afternoon. About 15 minutes ago, a nice squall line came thru with torrential rains and wind gusts easily about 40 mph. Only picked up .16" from it though.

ABC is showing ReedTimmer live with incredible footage

Live feed for ABC news showed their hotel carport just collapsed.

It died for me too. ABC news said it made landfall as a 155 mph storm but commented that the NHC will look over all the data to see if the storm stays as a cat 4 or is upped to a cat 5.

Storm chaser. His video is now being shown on the live weather channel feed. Looks like he is in the eyewall.

That guy is nuts to be where he is without real protection.

Michael is going for a Cat 5. I would not be surprised if he makes it. Going to be catastrophic where ever it hits.

looks like some amazing fall weather coming in behind michael friday, lows in the low 50s thru the weekend! FINALLY some crisp nights!
That is what I am seeing too. Going to be real nice. High's low to mid 70's, lows in the low to mid 50's. Dew points will be especially nice.

We don't need the wind but rain would be welcomed.

It hit 92 here yesterday. Today is a little bit cooler but just as humid. Currently 85/77.

Despite the fact that many people did flood here with Florence, it have been 3 weeks now since we have had a good soaking rain. So yes rain is needed.

I literally screamed that a little awhile ago.
My frustration level is about as high as it gets. This is some absolutely sickening garbage. There are things i need to get done but i can't find the will power to do it in this absurd heat. Can't believe we are having to put up with this type of heat in freaking october. It's already 91 here...so not just dealing with 90 degree heat, but MID 90s.....ffc is forecasting mid 94 for athens today.
My stepdaughter in Watertown, NY reported a low of 35 this morning.
