Why don't we have winter storm watches out yet for Monday night/ Tuesday? The expected combination of snowfall and ice accretion should easily meet WSW criteria. Unless they are going with a watch in the afternoon package and then an upgrade to warning tomorrow morning?
Because it has been a winter where no guidance is to be believed. Probably being super cautious since they've busted on almost every storm so far.

I think we are about to enter the best part of the winter for all of us. Anyone out there?

Maybe...but I do work and have life to deal with and if the window to enjoy it is 6 hours there is a good chance I’ll miss it. We should stop this though. Some don’t care if it washes away. Some do. Neither is right or wrong. Different opinions based on feelings. Arguing about this is silly and will muck up the thread. I’ll keep my displeasure at rain to myself from now on to not bother those that don’t care.
I agree 100%. The worst snowstorms are the ones that you know will be gone right away. Even the wintry week we had last week wasn't as fun because I knew the blowtorch would destroy all the snow in a few days.

Hey everyone,
I'm a high school senior who, in all honesty, doesn't understand half the stuff you guys are saying. With that said, I am competent enough to realize that we have some potential for next week. What are the odds that I am off of school at some point next week. We usually need 4'' mark to "get off" (get it-18 year old humor). Just trying to extend my knowledge beyond the fantastic job the school system does nowadays.

3Sounds like most of this forum. (I know it's banter but I couldn't resist)

The FV3 is actually the new NAM. It defies logic over and over again. FV3’d!

ICON slides the high off the coast holds the second wave back. Cuts into the midwest and we rain. Worst case scenario. On to the GFS.
Good thing it sucks.

Would not be a total stunner to see someone hit 70 today. Feel likes a May morning right now.
I think you may be right. My God. I think it will be the third February in a row with at least one day in the 70s if that happens.

Ok I checked and it was February 20 and 21st, so the second half of the month. My station recorded a high of 81.5 degrees on the 21st!
That really sucked. I do maple sugaring at my school and every single house fly in PA descended on our maple trees that day. DISGUSTING.

agree 1000%
yet some will take 1 doozy and call it winter. its interesting how perceptions of what the definition of a good winter is.
Agree as well. What I love about winter the most is the winter landscape, not a one and done storm where the rest of the winter is mild. Consistency is always what I hope for. 2013-14 was awesome for that.

Hey, I just realized that the overnight runs weren't a disaster. Did we break the cycle?

dont be honest then. Lie to me and tell me you hated it.
Im old enough to appreciate a warmup, Normal winter ebbs and flows around here, so not unexpected at all.
Just had a fantastic 3 day weekend at the cabin and conditions WERE fantastic. Now...shot to hell, but hope they can rebuild after this weekend.
I hated it. It makes me furious. High 40s or low 50s are one thing, but 60+ is ridiculous.

The major theme of this winter is don’t go to sleep. Whatever positives there were when you went to sleep will be reversed by the time you wake up.

The mystical phase 8.
May have to change the title of this thread to mythical if GFS is right.- 1

Go check out the NE and MA threads - dire over there. I don’t buy it.
The truth is no one knows what will happen, which is different than most years. Long-range guidance (beyond 5 days) is abysmal. No reason to be despondent, unless it is about the blowtorch about to happen.

I browsed LR threads in the other forums this morning and the consensus the past day or so seems like models say winter is nearly done.
Thankfuly LR modems blow and imo are a waste of time and energy.
I honestly can say that there is no confidence beyond 3 or 4 days. No chance anyone knows what will happen.

Why is everyone down? The eps looks really good
You would think that the overnight runs were disastrous. Maybe we are all conditioned to think that way.

CTP has issued advisories for counties bordering Mason-Dixon line... looks like 2-4" depending on county
