  1. It's crazy. It's just like a wave that comes down. A few hours later it's back to normal. We built our house elevated above the estimated record level, but 2 of the other 3 get it pretty bad. We have put generators on stilts now to keep sump pumps and everything else running, but at some point I want to try and actually flood proof the bottom levels
  2. Oh we actually flood for real. Like the houses are surrounded by the Ammonoosuc. It's only happened once since moving here but I really don't care to repeat the experience
  3. Group order? Honestly, at this point I'd be happy just not to flood. Wouldn't be fun to have to evacuate guests on Xmas day. :(
  4. They do it here all the time, it's annoying as f--k. First few times I've run out of my house in panic at the sight of a plane coming straight for us just a few hundred feet high. I guess the White Mountains are a good training ground because there are plenty of places to abandon the plane if needed. Eek. It's kinda cool now that I know, but scary at the same time.
  5. Lol. I've gotten used to the fact that 30% chance of snow showers means more certainty of upslope than just about any synoptic setup
  6. Spent all day in Conway. I love that town, but it's such a different world weather wise. We've had snow-caked trees for a while, and there there's a bit of snow on the ground (maybe 4" or so, about half of what we have here), but nothing on trees. It reminded me what I love about up here. Of course, they keep their snow much better than we do, but you can't beat the constant refreshers from a look perspective.
  7. Nice moderate snow this morning. Headed to Conway, probably nothing there
  8. A surprise 0.75" of fluff last night
  9. There's actually a little mood snow falling tonight...
  10. A snowy Owl on a an ASOS. Gotta be a sign of a big winter coming!!!
  11. It was built primarily for summer weddings but doubles down nicely in the winter!
  12. The new restaurant and food court up top at Bretton Woods are pretty awesome
  13. Also an amazing amount of diamond dust, although it may be coming from snowmaking at the ski area
  14. Just hit 0. Kids outdoors Xmas concert was soooo cold
  15. Ah! Well, you're part of the NNE crew now. You'll get plenty more. Lightened up, 4.8" measured so far (without any 6 hour clearing BS. Aint nobody got time for that). Exactly 9" at the stake.
  16. Congrats Gene! Nice that everyone is getting something out of this. Just short of 4" here but for some reason this stuff is really messing up the roads more than one would think with just 4"
  17. 2.3" here so far with a nice moderate snow falling and no wind. 6" at the stake.
  18. Awesome area though. South Pond (which Diane referred to) is amazing in the summer
  19. This should win me weenie of the year. Covering the trees I see from my dining room to make them more festive. It's this or listen to the SNE weenies gloat about their storm and they're just intolerable lol. Happy for them though.
  20. That's about right. Less to West Mountain, but they're not blowing snow there
  21. LOL that'd be cool. It was more like 0.005"... at first I thought - man, that is some HEAVY frost! Then noticed the clouds of snizzle coming at times from the mountain
