Another 0.53” at MRB. The wettest month on record there now sits at 11.04”

October 1942 was 10.38”. Previous wettest August was 1955 at 9.71”

Martinsburg just set a new record for the wettest month ever. 10.41” so far. Period of record goes back to 1926.

Getting rocked pretty good here with almost continuous thunder and winds gusting to 35 mph. Rain blowing in sheets.

All-time wettest months at MRB: 1- Oct 1932 10.38” 2- May 1978 9.73” 3- Aug 1955 9.71” 4- Oct 1990 9.50” 5- Sep 1935 9.49” 6- Aug 2024 9.36” 7- Sep 1975 9.25” 8- Sep 2018 9.22” Total precip for Apr-May-Jun-Jul was 9.41”

Looks like 3.46” for the day at MRB, after 2.06” on the 6th and 2.34” on the 7th. Now at 8.94” for the month through midnight, already the second-wettest August on record at the airport, after 9.71” in 1955. If tomorrow’s forecast verifies, we should crack the top 10 wettest of any month at that location.

Raining again at MRB. Now at 5.35” in the past 48 hours there. 6.42” for August. With the main show arriving tonight, it will be interesting to see how high up the list of wettest Augusts the total can reach less than 1/3 of the way through the month. 1955- 9.71” 1942- 8.86” 1954- 7.75” 2018- 7.32” 1978- 7.15” 1928- 7.05”

Heading to Cleveland to attend the game tonight. Orioles are 4-0 in games I’ve seen in person this year. Progressive Field has always been a nightmare for the Birds. 35-73 there, so really testing my luck with this one.

No idea what was going on with MRB in July 1936, though I’ve seen these same temps listed in all the climate records I have found. Considering temps were 10 to 18° lower at HGR on a couple of these days, I would discount these.

July 23-24, 2010 had back-to-back 101’s Last time MRB was above 100 was July 29, 2011 at 102. A week earlier, July 22, 2011 was 103.

Just had a very localized shower that wet the ground. 91° temp didn’t budge though, and with humidity rising to 68% have a current HI of 108°.
