  2. Daughter is sheltering in place at the harpoon brewery. They won't let her in to the leader bank pavilion until the lightning stops.
  3. 1.52 at the woodyard. Don't want it. Don't need it.
  4. " Ample moisture and SBCape values ranging from 1500 to 2000 J/kg will support thunderstorm growth during the afternoon. With weak wind fields however, there will not be nearly enough shear to support deep moist convection. In fact, model forecast soundings suggest 0-6 km shear lower than 10 knots which is quite putrid in terms of a severe thunderstorm environment." Poor Wiz...
  5. Anybody use the Arc GIS thermal hotspots. I hadn't before it's pretty cool. https://hub.arcgis.com/maps/b8f4033069f141729ffb298b7418b653

  8. All sorts of weird stuff going on. Bittersweet dying on the vine at this time of year? Also porcelain berry which has been covering every living thing for the past few years is struggling. I should be happy with invasives dying off but what comes with it?
  9. Anybody know anything about ferns? I'm sure tamarac does. Noticed quite a few in the woods with brown stocks in the middle. I don't know if this is normal or not. Lots of weird stuff going on with plants and trees this year.
  10. Wind must have changed direction smoke just moved in. Looks like there's a fire close by.
  11. "Humidity can cause all sorts of problems, some serious (making high temperatures dangerous for human health) and some mildly annoying (frizzy hair). What if it also could help in our response to the climate crisis? In a study out this week, scientists at the University of Massachusetts Amherst say they have created a device that can harvest electricity from humidity in the air." https://www.bostonglobe.com/2023/05/26/science/harnessing-same-forces-lightning-new-technology-extracts-electricity-humidity/ By the looks of the long range we won't be getting any free electricity around here. COC as far as the eye can see.
  12. Can't be right. Someone on here was calling for torch.
  13. I'm dreading it. Nothing so far but I know it's coming.
  14. Not sure if it's a perfect mix of rain and sun but the woods are spectacularly green this year.
  15. 2.43 at the woodyard - . 49 after midnight wasn't expecting that.
  16. I don't wish it ill on anyone. I'll bet there's a lot of moms with their daughters bringing them as a once-in-a-lifetime treat.
  17. You don't even know it's raining if you've done enough acid.
