Hard to believe even  with a Suburban you plowed thru 24 inches dam*...I bet you were  smiling ear to ear . I would have :D. I also think Shepherdstown,WV  was the lollie pop winner with 41" ..I believe . I remember back in the summer of 95' I was there at that college  for an Orioles tryout and it was a record high of 105 that Saturday...wow what a difference..eh

Yes It was pretty crazy driving through that. Probably a once in a lifetime around these parts lol. I am a Store manager at a grocery store and the company I worked for was amimant about opening the store that Saturday Morning. We were only open about 4 hours and did 60$ bucks in sales. Lol. How did the tryout go. Did you play any ball in the O's organization?

I think he must have been referring to a different storm. The only thing that messed up the 2016 storm was the dry slot from hell, and that affected areas somewhat along I-95, but mostly east. West and NW it was hours and hours of CCB moderate to heavy snow.

I was required to be at work that Saturday Morning in Hagerstown and it was snowing 2 to 4 inches per hour in the  CCB. On the way home in the early afternoon I have never driven in that much snow . Easily 18 to 24 inches on the back roads. I drove my wife's big suburban and still had trouble getting home. Definitely a while nuckle drive. Hagerstown area ended up with 40+ inches.  Plow drivers had given up for a while that Saturday Morning. Definitely an eerie feeling driving 15 miles home and not passing another vehicle the entire way.

Redskins blew plenty of opportunities. Glad they won, but that was such a close call.

Should of never came down to that kick. When you have 1st and goal you've got to punch it in. Left too many points on the field. The way the defense dominated that should of been a 14 pt win. Don't get me wrong. I'm happy with any win but it shouldn't of been a nail biter.

Only downside to Thurmont/Fdk is the valley. Coastals get wrung out with Parrs and down sloping so it can be a bit of a snow hole at times. Personally, I like the Damascus, Mt Airy, Westminster line. I worked in Mt Airy for 5 years and it was amazing how much more snow they got than my house and it was only 35 miles door to door.

Absolutely. Frederick area is not that great for snow. Ussually there's more snow to the east and west of Frederick. Frederick elevation is less than 300ft.

I'll second Sabilisville love going up there.

Anywhere at the top of rt 77 (catoctin falls area)  between Thurmont and Smithsburg is awesome for snow also. Many of times I have driven that route with rain in Thurmont and Smithsburg but there's several inches of snow at the top of 77. I believe it's over 1200ft in that area. Always atleast 5 degrees colder up there.

If at some point in the next two years job for my wife took us as a compromise location to Hagerstown or thurmont, that’s better for snow than Baltimore on balance, right?

Do sabilisville in northern Frederick county. About 15 minutes from Thurmont.  1k feet in elevation.

There getting snow when other locales are 35 and rain.

I think many are just happy to see things aligning with the potential for a decent winter.  I'd take the snapshots above....no extrapolation for NH needed.

To your point, it shows potential for an active winter and at this juncture....something to be excited about.  Looking forward to the evolution and discussions thereof.

    Nut

I really like the consistant PNA ridge it shows. We have seen a bad Pacific ruin our chances so many times. Fingers crossed.... no red flags so far for the winter.

i want it to be Thursday in such a bad way.  That marks the end of the humid airmass we've had for weeks

Heck yea.  Starting Friday temps look great for the foreseeable future.  Can't wait for 50s/60s for highs and 30s/40s for lows.

About 6 weeks till we can realistically look at the long range GFS for snow threats.

You can’t equate the penalties and/or suspensions given diring the time Dale Hunter was spearing and cross-checking his opponents with the way the game is officiated today. That’s foolish...to put it lightly.

As for the hit on Umberger, if it was deemed a legal hit in open ice, then I do t see how you can use that as an example either.

Do you feel like Wilson is being victimized or something?

Wilson needs to change how he hits or the next time he wil be out the entire season. Wilson is the type of player that you love him when he is on your team and hate em  when you have to play against him. I love what he brings he just needs to take it down a notch.

Vikes go to Lambeau, get a punt blocked for a TD, miss 3 FGs and tie.  I don’t know how to feel.  Thanks for Kirk, Washington.  He was spectacular.

As a life long skins fan it was a huge mistake for the skins to not resign cousins. Not that he really wanted to stay. Snyder repeatedly disrespected him and made it tough for cousins to want to be here. Cousins is a class act and I am pulling for him in Minnesota. I hope he wins the super bowl in Minnesota.

Every time the long range progs show some signs of real fall air getting here, it gets pushed to the right inevitably.  The summer that won't end.

Long range GFS shows some nice Canadian air coming in by the end of the month and beginning of October. We can hope.....  highs in the 60's and 70's and lows in the 40's.

12z GFS is a complete disaster.   Nothing but AN temps from start to finish, except for those times we are extremely AN.  We will be recording upper 80s well into October if that run is correct.

Let's hope it's not right. The 06z GFS had alot of 40's for lows and 60's/70's for highs after day 10. I could go for that.

Still hasn't updated on TT. In other news, the CFS still looks like crap up top with +AO/+NAO and WAR for much of met winter. The good news there is plenty of time, it is the CFS so no one really cares, and it is due for one of it's many complete flips.

I usually try to ignore the cfs because it rarely shows what I want. Lol

Those mins are some stellar snow times

Absolutely. I just looked up the seasonal snow data for Hagerstown and according to the graph you posted 3 of the top 4 snowiest winters happened during a minimum.

Not saying we are going to have a huge season but it's a positive thing we have going for us.

Finally have a couple dry days to paint (outside)2 decorative wood septic lid covers I built to hide the ugly green ones. Built them out of pressure treated wood and using a spray gun to apply 2 coats of  a solid color . Fyi...if you build anything out of treated wood you must wait a couple weeks at least for it to dry and cure before painting or staining.

Today and yesterday are about as perfect as you can get.  I finally was able to complete the task of staining my deck. It took over 4 weeks to complete with all of the rain over the past month. Time to move on to my picket fence. It needs staining badly.

  16. I have been trying to finish staining my deck that I started on May 13th. The rain has been crazy. Never thought it would take over a month because of forecasted rain almost every day. 80 % done but with a chance of rain for the next 4 days I guess it will be on hold again...lol
