  1. We should see some 70 degree weather by around the 9th or 10th of the month ... really looking forward to that. Miserable week this week, but at least the cool season vegetables in the garden will like this kind of weather.

the 12Z Euro shifted south with the snow accumulations in the metro

Obviously what the 12z Euro showed wouldn't cut it for the NYC area. A 10:1 map showing barely a half inch would mean zero for this area this time of year. It wouldn't be surprising if areas well to the north get a little though.

It came north so its not done coming north. Can't get lucky even with a negative NAO.

I think even most snow lovers in this area don't want to get lucky this time of year. Snow in April would be pretty bad since the growing season has started. Thankfully the CMC is very likely to be wrong with the snow solution for our area. Hopefully CMC is also overdoing it with the really big 3 inch plus rain amounts. Euro gives us half that amount of rain, but even if that's correct it's gonna be a miserable few days.

Would be interesting to have this trend south and impact us but we know that'll never happen.

Instead it's going to be a dreary, cool and miserable few days

40s and rain, talk about a horrendous weather week.  Looking forward to the 2nd week of April when we'll see a big warmup to the 70s.

Anyway I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend.

    That will come next week

Yeah as you pointed out yesterday, next week looks miserable. Rainy early to mid week and then chilly and windy mid to late week. I'm hoping we can break out of this pattern and get back to nice weather for the 2nd week of April.

    Just .41

Only .38 here so far. Looks like just light rain the rest of the afternoon, so we'll probably end up with only around a half inch here. As others pointed out, the eastern solutions ended up being right with this. Still a miserable rainy day though.

Some thundah reports out in PA with this slug of cold rain. These dreary days are the absolute worst.

Yeah I was outside planting lettuce and broccoli this afternoon, and it got nasty with the light rain and temp drop to 47 degrees. I wish we could go back to the 70s that we had earlier in the month.

Yep no surprise that the models were wrong with that east trend that they had for a little while. Another super soaker tomorrow, ugh. I assume opening day for the Mets will be moved to Friday.

I think models will shift back west tomorrow.

Already seeing signs of that tonight with Icon & Nam

Yep. HRRR tonight is pretty far west for Thursday too. We can hope all we want for the east trend, but that goes against what usually happens.

    Awesome, keep it going.

NAM now east on the 18z run as well. Dry Thursday afternoon for the Mets opener. Let's hope this trend continues!

GFS a bit east and CMC about the same

12z Euro is east with Thursday's rain. It would be great if the east trend wins for a change instead of the usual NW/wetter winning. Would be nice if Thursday is mostly dry and the Mets can play their home opener, but I definitely wouldn't bet on that yet.

The sun and lack of wind today feels good

Yeah 53 degrees here today felt great with the strong late march sunshine. I went outside with a sweatshirt on, but quickly took it off and worked with just a t-shirt on. Tomorrow won't be as comfortable since it will be cloudy.

  13. Time to get the gardening season started! Today I'm planting seeds (peas and radishes), and later in the week I'll plant lettuce and broccoli plants.

I was hoping it would be a bit warmer today, but it's still a beautiful day. We've been spoiled by all the warm weather, so near normal early spring temps in the 50s feels chilly to us now. We have to get used to it since there's no sign of warm weather coming back for awhile. Looks like lots of high temps in the 50s ahead.

Too bad it's looking like another super soaker for Thursday. Bad timing for the Mets home opener. I assume it'll be postponed until Friday.

Can’t wait for the warm muggies and thunderstorms

Me too. Right now I'm sick and tired of these big soaking rainstorms, but during the summer I'll be right here you you and Stormlover rooting hard for our area to be hit by thunderstorms.

  15. Low temp of 24 here. Horrible that we're looking at another big soaker on Saturday. I'm looking forward to Monday. Starting the vegetable garden that day and it looks like nice weather. Forecast is mid 50s, but with lots of sunshine I wouldn't be surprised if it's an overperformer with temps getting close to 60.

    This weather stinks

Too bad the idea of Tuesday being just a brief cool shot and then a quick warmup failed. Now it looks cool through the weekend, but thankfully next week looks warmer. Not a huge warmup like we had last week, but a decent one. We'll probably get back to 60s. I'm starting the garden with the cool season vegetables next week, so the warmer temps will be nice for the spring planting.

  17. 73 degrees here! Spectacular weather! Might be even a couple degrees warmer tomorrow. I'd love to have weather like this in late march when it's time to start the garden with cold tolerant vegetables, but it rarely works out that way.

Still looks like a decent cold shot for the official start of spring. High temps probably mid-upper 40s next Tuesday-Wednesday, but it will be only a brief cold shot.

  18. Figures that after a very warm winter, a cold shot will likely be coming in around the 19th for the official start of spring. But before then we could have temps in the 70s late next week, as bluewave pointed out.

Not representative of the NYC metro area at all . Areas to the southwest across north and central NJ have measured 18 - 24 inches this season. And most other areas in the metro have reached past 10 inches..........

19 inches here. Not bad considering how warm this winter was. We were very lucky.

1.10 here so far, but it's tapering off now (will add a little more later tonight). More heavy rain to the south and east, but you can see it's heading for Long Island. The models were correct to have the heavier amounts to the east, but still a good soaking here. About what was expected with a little over an inch.
